Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for aField Engineering Liaison (Level III) to support the Strategic Weapons System Launcher programbased out of Sunnyvale, CA. The selected candidate will be part of a small, highly specialized team that installs and tests the Trident II Submarine Launcher Subsystem for U.S. Navy's Columbia Class Submarine: a new construction ballistic missile submarine program. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, with excellent communication skills, exhibits flexibility, and works well within a diverse team environment.
What You'll Get to Do:
- Provide Technical Liaison support to Columbia ClassField Engineering personnel for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Trident II Submarine Launcher Subsystem and support equipment at both the New London, CT and Quonset Point, RI shipyard sites.
- Wear the 'orange vest' and become the single point-of-contact in resolution of Field Engineering Technical problems requiring Sunnyvale, CA home office support.
- Work closely with Field Engineering/management, platform integration, logistics, system test, design engineering, and production teams in resolution of complex multi-discipline problems.
- Organize and aide in prioritization of open actions supporting testing and construction of Columbia Class ships.
- Help drive completion of actions and obtain accurate status of open actions by directly working with home office organizations and management teams.
- Support creation or modification of home office (interface) processes for problem resolution to ensure timely and accurate support.
- Collaborate with UK Dreadnought field and program personnel on common issues and share lessons learned during execution of SITP for Columbia Class SSBNs.
- Travel to build-yard sites to gain firsthand knowledge of the construction and test program.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's of Science Degree and 5 years', Masters Degree and 3 years', or a PhD with 0 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience working with cross functional and cross discipline teams.
- Experience in driving solutions to complex problems.
- Able and willing to support occasional travel up to 10%.
- Able and willing to work on a rotating schedule, as needed; periodic shift work and weekend work may be required based on testing and operational needs.
- US citizen.
- Active Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math).
- Experience with Strategic System Program (SSP) operations and the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program.
- Experience on the D5 Launcher Subsystem and Launcher Support Equipment.
- Experience working in a SSBN new construction or overhaul shipyard.
- Experience in an environment with strict procedural compliance.
Salary Range: $107,300.00 - $160,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
