This position is based in Washington, D.C.
This position supports Federal & State Government Affairs activities of the company by carefully monitoring and analyzing public policy issues which generate policy directives, regulation or legislation that will have an impact on the company, or one or more of its operating units.
- Develop relationships and serve as the liaison with Congress, the Administration, State & Local officials, coalitions and industry associations composed of companies with similar interests and viewpoints as on important matters; leveraging them in support of company priorities
- Identify emerging legislative issues/policy trends which could affect corporate objectives
- Issues include, but not are limited to: agriculture/the farm bill, climate/carbon markets/regenerative agriculture, carbon sequestration/methane capture, renewable fuel standards and right to repair
- Manage state contract lobbying activity and direct lobbying by CNH on right-to-repair in various states
- Must establish and maintain positive relationships at all levels of government, public services, and other stakeholders (e.g. federal, state, provincial, city, or local) to facilitate communication and help advance the organization's business interests
- Develop and maintain relationships with state industry trade associations and equipment dealer associations
- Maintain a functional understanding of the political environment in the states in which the organization has facilities
- Collaborate with site management teams to initiate and lead the application and contracting process for State and Federal economic development opportunities and projects that may arise at any of the organization’s facilities
- Manage the completion of work assignments and coordinate activities with business unit client groups and other members of the Government Affairs team
- Establish working relationships with respective business units to identify policy concerns as they relate to business objectives
- provide advice/counsel to various business units on key issues and political matters
- represent business unit/enterprise interests before policymakers and be lead advocate
- Analyze and evaluate probable impact of initiatives and government activities, alert affected company executives, and develop and implement specific action plans based on a mutual assessment of the issues’ relative importance and impact
- Develop ideas for regulatory or legislative initiatives that may be beneficial to the company
- Leverage and coordinate, as appropriate, the political resources of other companies, trade associations, and consortiums to influence matters of common concern and interest
- Develop materials and arguments relating to the particular to provide corporate executives, dealers and/or customers with background information and to serve as the basis for presentation of corporate views to appropriate government officials
- Host senior corporate executives, government officials at CNH locations and elsewhere
- Keep abreast of corporate and operating unit plans/business activities and interpret them into useful political priorities
- Maintain compliance with State and Federal lobbying regulations and interaction with government officials
Qualifications:
The qualified candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7+ years of successful legislative/policy experience.
- Confirmed knowledge of Federal & State legislative and regulatory process.
- Graduate degree (JD, MBA, Public Policy)
