ABOUT THE POSITION
The Therapeutic Services Intern is a key member of Colorado Dream Foundation's Clinical Team. The Intern
supports the behavioral and mental health needs of clients within the Emotional Wellness Development
Program, working alongside program participants and 1:1 therapy clients ages four through adulthood.
Additionally, they will serve as an advocate for all youth and families on their caseload and within the greater
Colorado Dream Foundation program. This position has a heavy emphasis on clinical methods and practices. It is
best suited for an intern who is in their concentration year (social work) or practicum or internship phase
(counseling). The intern will report to the Director of Therapeutic Services and work across the organization to
meet the needs of the communities.
The Therapeutic Services Intern's primary responsibilities include:
Clinical Service Delivery
• Program Facilitation
o Provide direct therapeutic care and management of clients, ages four through adulthood, by developing
and implementing therapeutic treatment plans as well as developing a therapeutic relationship with
clients (and families, where applicable) to assist with behavioral health challenges
o Opportunities to collaborate, lead, monitor, and co-facilitate educational and therapeutic groups for
clients and community members
• Collaboration & Feedback
o Collaborate with other Clinical Team members and serve as a liaison with multi-disciplinary team
members and external community partners
o Participate in 1:1 supervision with the Clinical Managers and Director of Therapeutic Services to ensure
the successful execution of organizational goals.
o Attend and participate in group supervision opportunities with other interns
• Data Analysis
o Complete behavioral health assessments for treatment planning or crisis intervention
o Analyze data and prepare case records, reports, and documentation to ensure compliance with state and
federal standards of care
Other Duties
• Build strong relationships with and among clients
• Participate in Colorado DreamFoundation all-staff training, meetings, and events
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Pursuing a Masters or Doctoral degree in social work, counseling, or another related field
Therapy Intern applicants who are Candidates in Master of Social Work programs must be in their second
year of school.
• Candidates in Counseling programs will be accepted at any point in their education after a successful
interview.
• Developing clinical skills and a thorough understanding of child development and behavior
• Proven desire and motivation to individualize and use holistic therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of
clients, moving them forward toward the achievement of therapeutic goals
• Awareness of trauma-informed care and experience in embedding the principles into daily work with youth
• Demonstrated belief in Colorado Dream Foundation's mission and values
• Record of accomplishment in creating and sustaining an organizational culture that fosters diversity, equity,
and inclusion
• An unwavering belief that all clients can be successful
• Strong team player
• Flexible and capable with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining healthy
boundaries
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop strong relationships across a diverse spectrum of
stakeholders
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and special events as needed
• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish is highly preferred
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Colorado Dream Foundation has the opportunity to provide an hourly stipend for interns for at least the 2024
summer and fall semesters with the goal of securing additional funding to extend this stipend for Spring 2025. It
would also consider contracting as a student intern's work-study site.
