California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) seeks a Staff Services Manager I (SSM I), in the Customer Experience Division (CXD), Frontline Agent Readiness and Mentorship (FARM) Team 3.
Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II (SSM II), the SSM I functions as the first level manager over the FARM Team within the Workforce Strategy and Optimization (WSO) Section, and is responsible for the overall oversight, management, and daily operations of the unit while staying organized with the ability to function in a fast paced environment, set priorities, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines within challenging and strict time constraints. The SSM I responsibilities include personnel management with respect to hiring, onboarding, mentoring, training, assignments, employee performance, employee recognition, and other related areas of supervision to ensure a productive and cohesive work environment. The SSM I should exhibit good judgment in all work-related activities and utilize appropriate skills to recruit and develop talent, enact change management, and perform data and trend analysis.

    Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
    • 2+ years leadership experience
    • 3+ years working in a contact center or other fast-paced customer service environment
    • Experience with contact center technology, data, quality assurance and KPIs, including using KPI's to lead a team, and/or analyzing trends in KPI results
    • Experience and knowledge of leadership and management skills and abilities, with an emphasis on hiring, coaching, progressive discipline, performance evaluations, and change management
    • Experience with performing analysis of best practices, identifying issues/trends, determining alternatives/solutions, making recommendations to Sr. Leadership, and presenting ideas and information effectively both orally and in writing.
