Farm Stand and Events Associate Job Description

General Statement of Duties

Farm Stand and Events Associate operate a welcoming local farm store and community event space at Reunity Resources while also contributing to informative and engaging online communications. This staff member performs a variety of customer-service, organizational, communications and administrative duties.

FLSA Status: This is a part-time, non-exempt seasonal position at $18.66/hour for 10-24 hours/week beginning May 4, 2024 and ending November 10, 2024.

Essential Duties and Tasks

  • Facilitates a warm and welcoming environment for customers, provides excellent customer service, and communicates with customers about Reunity’s produce, retail products, farming methods and brief history of the farm and our practices.
  • Communicates with guests about the mission, goals, events, and community programs at Reunity Resources
  • Maintains a clean, well-stocked, and well-organized retail store, event, and public gathering space
  • Sets up and breaks-down the space for open Farm Stand hours
  • Setting out tables and appropriate displays in the Farm Stand; and display items such as table cloths, buckets, bins, trays and stocking produce and vendor merchandise items in store
  • Sets up and breaks-down the space for any scheduled special event set up as required for that specific event, such as setting fires, moving tables and picking up trash
  • Uses Square Point-of-Sale technology and get comfortable processing EBT/Double Up Food Bucks/WIC/FreshRX transactions
  • Restocking Products- restocking refrigerated and/or frozen merchandise, vendor merchandise and any Farm Fresh refrigerated goods
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the retail space, kitchen and dining areas including the sample station in store and making sure food goods are kept at safe temperatures in compliance with health code
  • Follow food safety guidelines and ensure proper handling of food
  • Creating and designing display signs
  • Performs end-of-day cash drawer balancing, sales report generation
  • Tracking Inventory if necessary
  • Being present for pre shift meetings with Farm Stand/Event Staff
  • Completing the duties assigned by the Farm Stand/Event Manager in a timely manner

Additional Duties and Tasks

  • Will work in some capacity with other departments such as farm and kitchen teams
  • May assist in washing & packaging of freshly-harvested produce, and packaging bulk goods into retail units
  • Lending a hand where extra work is needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of organizational systems in offices
  • Working knowledge of the use of printers, computers, tablets and phones to create files, record data, prepare reports and communicate with team
  • Attention to detail, especially around cash handling, inventory, and pricing
  • Ability to underStand and follow moderately complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to maintain food safety standards
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and team members
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals
  • Maintain professional conduct and know when to break conversation with customers or employees and move on to help the next customer
  • Works well as a part of a team and works well alone
  • Is a self-starter but can also follow directions/checklist
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Farmstand/Events Manager
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of banquet and catering operations is a plus

Physical Requirements/Special Requirements

  • Must be able to physically perform basic operational functions of an office and retail environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs multiple times throughout the workday
  • Basic level of financial responsibility and literacy

Minimum Training and Experience

  • 2 years experience in retail/customer service, High School degree or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in the hospitality or food service industry is preferred

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $18.66 per hour
