What You’ll Do:
Serve as an enterprise wide experience liaison, promoting a culture of exceptional experience for children and families. Under the direction of the Patient Care supervisor, maintains a supportive, informative, and comfortable environment for patients and their families. Provides information and resources within the emergency department and trauma center (EDTC) to support the needs of each patient and family, contributing to their wait experience. Will provide comfort care items and distractions to the patient and family. Supports the overall cleanliness of waiting room areas.
How You’ll Do It:
- Demonstrate compassionate customer service to all families that come through the Children’s WI EDTC and orients families to the waiting room environment including resources, information, individual updates and way finding.
- Provides guidance on hospital policies and resources, including but not limited to, visitor policy, masking policy, cafeteria location, vending machines, texting updates, CW apps, and support services.
- Collaborates with the patient access team, security, child-life, social work, language services, environmental services (EVS) and nursing team throughout the shift as needed.
- Utilizes technology to document family feedback and supports identification of trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Helps manage family expectations and performs de-escalation with families and caregivers who may be upset about wait times.
- Maintains a welcoming and clean wait room environment by ensuring all garbage is placed in appropriate receptacles, wipes down chairs, tables and high touch surfaces, ensures waiting room bathrooms are maintained, and collaborates with Environmental Services and Facilities via notification of areas in the department that require maintenance.
Schedule Details: every other weekend. Requires one 8 hour shift 2-10:30
Unit Description: The Emergency Department/Trauma Center provides emergency health care for children and adolescents up until their 18th birthday who present for care.. Emergency care is provided for all types of illnesses and injuries, 24 hours a day. The severity of illness and injury varies and is defined by the Triage guidelines as non-urgent, urgent, and emergent. 54% of all inpatient admissions will come from the EDTC, which is 17% of all EDTC patients. With the frequent populations seen, collaborative practice protocols help to expedite care delivered.
