Family Life Specialist

You will serve as a FAMILY LIFE SPECIALIST in the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) of NAVAL SUBMARINE BASE NEW LONDON.Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Interviewing and assessing clients' needs and concerns such as relocation, career resource development, and personal financial issues; 2) Assisting clients with career, occupational, volunteer and educational issues; 3) Providing assistance in developing family goals and plans; 4) Developing marketing materials to include researching, organizing, designing, procuring and disseminating community resource directories.

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
or
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
SUBSITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:
Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position:
2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
or
master's or equivalent graduate degree
Combination of experience and education: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.
