As a member of the Child Life Program the Gaming and Technology Specialist coordinates all aspects of the gaming and technology experience for pediatric patients at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, including the integration, maintenance and implementation of the program's electronic/gaming equipment and accompanying materials. The Technology Specialist manages gaming equipment allocations for patient use, provides active one-on-one gaming sessions, gaming & technology groups and special events to normalize and promote coping through the hospital experience for pediatric patients. They facilitate overall gaming strategy, training and technical support, Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), PlayStation, Nintendo, Xbox, PC, etc. Assists with assessing, installing, documenting, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting and supporting gaming systems, peripherals, and related technological hardware and manages the day-to-day technology needs within the context of the Child Life Dept.

Responsibilities
- 1. DIRECT AND INDIRECT PATIENT CARE
- 1.1 Develop, plan, implement and evaluate activities utilizing gaming and other technologies that maintain or enhance the social, emotional, physical, intellectual and/or creative wellbeing of pediatric patients and their families, in individual and group sessions and special events.
- 2. COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION
- 2.1 Communicate with Child Life Program staff and the clinical care team to obtain patient referrals. Provide a written and/or verbal summary of the patient's and family's response to interactions, as appropriate. Document session outcomes per departmental policy in the patient's permanent medical record.
- 3. ADMINISTRATION OF PROGRAM
- 3.1 Create guidelines and maintain supplies, equipment and materials specific to the gaming and technology program; provide assessment of material needs. Install, maintain, troubleshoot, update and repair gaming systems and related peripheral equipment.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required: High school graduate (with highly developed relevant skills gained through life experience); preferred Associates/Bachelor degree in a related field
EXPERIENCE
Strong gaming experience required, lifelong gamer preferred, well versed in VR and AR technologies; participated/attended gaming conferences, has at least 1 year experience working/volunteering with children in a professional setting or can demonstrate the ability to appropriately interact and work well with children of all ages.
LICENSURE
Certificate in Gaming Development, Licensed as Computer Support Technician
