Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in all aspects of Family Law cases, including divorce, child custody, and adoption
- Conduct legal research using Lexis-Nexis and other resources to support case preparation
- Draft legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and affidavits
- Manage and organize case files, ensuring all documents are properly filed and maintained
- Review and analyze client documents for accuracy and completeness
- Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel to schedule meetings, hearings, and depositions
- Prepare for trial by organizing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders
- Provide administrative support to attorneys, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing calendars
Skills:
- Strong clerical skills with attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously
- Proficiency in using Lexis-Nexis or similar legal research tools
- Ability to conduct thorough legal research and write clear and concise legal documents
- Knowledge of legal case management software systems
- Experience in document review and analysis
- Strong project management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively
- Professional phone etiquette with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients
This position requires a paralegal certificate or equivalent experience in Family Law. A bachelor's degree in paralegal studies or a related field is preferred.
