Adelphoi has a full-time Family Advocate position available in Fayette County, PA. The Family Advocate, who themselves have lived experience as a parent/caregiver of a child with special needs, has experience working with the Schools and/or Mental Health systems and services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Able to share their personal experience of living with an intellectual or behavioral health challenged youth and their personal experience in working with the child serving systems and services
- Able to be a role model both in the community and to families involved in the program.
- Initiates and improves communication among family leaders and advocates across the County.
- Organizes and facilitates family member meetings, educational opportunities and/or events.
- Ensures that the family voice is both represented and heard from at all levels of the Fayette County’s child serving systems.
- Trains youth, family members and professionals to work together more effectively.
- Researches and presents new information about best practices for families across the child serving systems.
- Educates current and new family members about the many informational, educational, support and referral resources available throughout Fayette County and Pennsylvania.
Education: High School diploma or equivalency and have life experience which is used to engage the families.
