The Harold Walter Siebens School of Business at Buena Vista University (BVU) seeks a Part Time online instructor to work remotely who is committed to excellence in undergraduate accounting education with an emphasis in data analytics. The successful candidate will serve as a content matter expert and teach a variety of courses in the undergraduate online curriculum in Accounting and accounting data analytics, consistent with their credentials and interest. This new position offers the opportunity to serve as a key faculty member in the online program, working collaboratively with the accounting faculty to develop and guide the expansion of the program’s offerings to prepare students for the accounting profession and CPA and CMA licensures. The Accounting major in the Harold Walter Siebens School of Business is designed to develop in students strong analytical and professional skills grounded in a comprehensive understanding of contemporary business. Essential Functions:
Develop and update accounting and accounting data analytics course content to prepare students for professional life and the CPA Evolution and CMA exams. Teach courses in the online accounting program Collaborate with the accounting faculty in both the face to face and online programs. Practice quality interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Function independently and work effectively as a team member Participate as a member of the Storm Lake faculty team by joining school meetings (virtually) and special events. Assist adjunct faculty in transitioning courses to include CPA evolution content Remain active and current in the field through professional development activities Evaluate adjunct faculty as assigned by the Dean. Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications:Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a closely related field that includes at least 18 graduate credits in Accounting or related area Ability to teach a variety of courses in Accounting and accounting data analytics Ability to guide the professional development of students Ability to collaborate effectively with accounting and business faculty colleagues. Ability to be a faculty lead in the online accounting program and assist adjuncts in transitioning courses to include CPA Evolution content. Preferred Qualifications:Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Accounting, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Business, or closely related field that includes at least 18 graduate credits in Accounting or related area Certification as a CPA and/or CMA Experience teaching at the post-secondary/university level Experience teaching courses in hybrid and online settings Relevant professional experience in business and accounting To apply, please submit: a letter of application detailing your qualifications and interest in the position graduate school transcripts (photocopies acceptable with application; official copies will be required for appointment), Curriculum vitae including a list of courses taught Contact information for three professional references (including title, address, e-mail address and phone number).
