- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus four (4) years relevant work experience.
- Experience may substitute for education up to the maximum of four (4) years.
- Class C Driver License.

Work Schedule:
- This position is categorized as Essential Personnel with the City of Austin. Essential staff are required to work during emergencies or bad weather if they are scheduled to work and, in some cases, when they are not scheduled. Essential employees ensure the continuance of key operations for the City of Austin.
- Work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekends and may include on-call shifts.
- Shifts may change according to departmental needs.
- Employee may be required to work additional hours outside of regular work schedule.
This position is physically demanding and requires daily year around outdoor activities during extreme hot and inclement weather. Extensive and frequent walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, squatting, bending, twisting upper body, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders and stairs is required to perform essential job functions. Finger and manual dexterity is required to frequently operating vehicles, power tools and equipment. Job duties also include lifting heavy equipment and a variety of building materials. Building materials include wood and modular furniture, metal cabinets, heavy doors, heavy equipment and all types and sizes of sandbags and boxes.
May occasionally work evenings, weekends or holidays. Hours may change based on business needs.

- Plans and performs basic building repairs and participates in construction/installation activities on assigned projects.
- Conducts site inspections and reports on maintenance needs and safety violations.
- Coordinates with contractors, vendors, and other divisions providing maintenance, repairs, and moves to assigned buildings.
- Calculates figures and compiles data and information for reports, cost estimates, etc.
- Prepares and maintains status reports on projects.
- Monitors lease agreements, maintenance contracts, equipment installation contracts, and construction contracts.
- Researches information as requested or needed.
