Facilities/Maintenance Technician

SUMMARY:   Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
• Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operations variations with supervisor or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
• Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
• Install and repair electrical apparatus such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
• Lay out, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
• Repair and maintain physical structure of establishment.
• Install, program or repair automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
• Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures and tools.
• Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
• Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions and other wooden structures.
• Seasonal snow, ice and sand removal to facilitate safe operations external to building.
• On occasion, respond to emergency situations during off-duty hours and weekends.
• Occasionally deliver product to customer’s external to Upper Lakes Foods, Inc using company approved vehicles.
• Adhere to all safety rules and regulations in compliance with OSHA, DOT and FSMA in accordance with company policy.
• Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Company, and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
• Poses no direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself, of others, or to property. Defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation.
• Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
• Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.

 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience

• At least 1 year relate experience in facilities maintenance and up -keep in an industrial or warehouse setting.

Skills

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
• Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization to provide safe, functional working environment.

Certification, Licenses, Registrations

• Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to Upper Lakes Foods, Inc.
