About the Position
The Facilities Technician plays a critical role and is overall responsible for grounds, specific safety tasks and the facility at a site level. The position will require multiple site support [Roseville, New Hope & Maplewood]. This role is a key stakeholder for capital expenditures planning and to partner with Facilities & EHS leadership to complete tasks as assigned. Support and work with the manufacturing engineering group to maintain the cohesiveness of preventative maintenance programs for facilities equipment (i.e. air compressors, RO systems, etc). Critical thinking skills are essential to understand theoretical issues, troubleshoot and or repair all facility-based equipment. They will have obligations to meet maintenance key indicators (KPI’s) to accommodate overall strategic goals and objectives for the site.
Responsibilities
- Perform PMs on facilities equipment including but not limited to air compressors and systems, rooftop units (HVAC), bathroom fixtures, RO systems, light- duty compressed air fixtures, cleanroom support equipment
- Identify high-risk failure areas to reduce and eliminate reactive failures to critical facilities’ equipment
- Required to multitask, balance workload, and escalate to management if necessary
- Advise and analyze methodologies to improve efficiency and reliability to increase equipment availability while reducing unplanned breakdowns and costs
- Plan upcoming projects and repairs based on industry knowledge. Collaborate with the Production department to ensure repairs can be made in a manner to minimize downtime through effective planning and communication
- Assist facilities leadership to understand vendor supported preventive maintenance and scheduling
- Collaborate with facilities leadership, quality, and engineering team to create or improve preventative maintenance tasks or schedules for facility-based equipment
- Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician i.e., door hardware, card access, carpet repair, plumbing, minor painting & drywall finishing, RTU coil cleaning or brushing
- Obtain services from outside contractors when repairs require a specialized technician. i.e., HVAC, card access, plumbing, carpentry and electrical
- Prepare facilities for winter and summer transition
- Maintain inventories of supplies and materials needed for facilities repairs and maintenance
- Cleans and organizes critical and consumable spare parts along with maintaining maintenance shop area
- Responsible for supervision of janitorial duties and common stock items
- Active participant in safety committee and functions to include continuous improvement functions and projects
- Perform LOTO when working on equipment and holding fellow employees accountable to VitalPath’s safety culture
- Track ownership of safety issues and work towards a solution to mitigate or eliminate risks to fellow employees or vendors
- Pest control coordination
- Checking and responding to security issues
- Understand and follow OSHA guidelines and other regulations
- Recommend lean energy ideas for cost reductions
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent
- 4-6 Years of experience in similar role supporting multiple sites
- Read and understand blueprints and schematics as required to create and build new fixtures, tools, and machine parts
- Familiar with asset management software and quality management systems
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Works well independently and with others
- Basic Computer skills for project management
- Administrative skills for ordering supplies, handling records and scheduled maintenance
- Prolonged periods standing and walking
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl in awkward spaces
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at a time
- Ability to travel independently between our Roseville, Maplewood, and New Hope locations
- 2-year trade school in an applicable trade
