Tesla’s Bay Area Prototype Fabrication Shop is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Fabricator to join the team and contribute to Tesla’s mission.
The Prototype Fabrication Team provides engineers and technicians across the organization with fabricated components and assemblies as well as insight into the fabrication process by way of close collaboration. Through your efforts on the Prototype Team, you will help enhance components and systems design by bringing conceptual ideas to the physical world. Engineering initiatives you will contribute towards range widely from pre-production vehicles, energy systems, robotics, AI, and other future-shaping products.

- Efficiently plan workflow, prep materials, and fabricate simple to complex components and assemblies
- Welding – TIG, MIG, CMT, in a variety of positions and materials
- Machining – Set up and operation of manual lathe, manual mill, and measurement tools
- Sheetmetal – Program and operate Waterjet, Lasers, CNC Press Brake, and manual equipment
- Read, interpret, and build to 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, weld symbols and GD&T
- Proactively track, document, and provide direct feedback with clear communication to management, engineers, and other fabricators on design and process improvement, project status and outcomes
- Maintain shop equipment and keep workplace clean and organized
- 5+ years of experience in Fabrication environment
- Proficiency with TIG, MIG, Mill, Lathe, common shop equipment, and a variety of hand tools
- Excellent communication skills with ability to develop and present technical information through verbal, email, text, phone, Microsoft Office suite, and other digital communication platforms
- Ability to remain positive and focused in demanding and stressful situations
- Ability to learn and quickly gain proficiency with shop software (waterjet, laser, press brake, CAD)
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively both independently and as a team with minimal supervision
- Flexible with ability to work overtime on short notice based on strategic needs of the company
Compensation and Benefits
Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire:
$24.40 - $65.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
