About the role

As an External Supply and Logistics Lead, you will report to the Head of External Manufacturing to ensure Sana is the partner of choice for our critical material suppliers, and ensure we have what we need, when and where we need it to develop, manufacture, and provide innovative cell therapies to patients. What you’ll do
- Build and maintain relationships and supply agreements with critical suppliers and Logistics providers. Serve as point of contact between external partners and internal teams. Responsible for identifying, forecasting, resolving, and appropriately escalating supply constraints, risks, and issues
- Be subject matter expert in shipping and Logistics, developing strategies, solutions, troubleshooting and maintaining operational oversight for shipments of GMP materials and clinical trial material
- Work with members of Sana’s supply chain, external manufacturing, and process development teams to identify weak points in the supply chain, and establish the operating model, relationships, tools, and processes needed for scalable and sustainable External Supply chain and Logistics
- Liaise directly with manufacturing sites to identify and resolve supply issues impacting planned manufacturing campaigns. Proactively provide visibility and guidance to internal teams on supply risks and potential mitigations
- Develop operational roadmap, KPIs and engagement models with critical suppliers, negotiate and drive performance
- Collaborate with members of Sana’s supply chain and other internal experts to develop and maintain demand forecasts for selected materials sourced from critical suppliers
- Contribute to strategy and drive execution to mitigate enterprise risks associated with top tier suppliers. Operationalize mitigation plans including stage-appropriate relationship maturation
- Represent Supply Chain and/or Technical Operations organizations in operational and or executive level governance with critical suppliers
- Collaborate with members of Sana’s Legal, Procurement, Finance, Business Development, and Site Operations teams to develop enterprise approach to develop and implement enterprise-level strategy and tools related to External Supply and Logistics
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor's degree in science, pharmacy, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences industry (CMC development preferred), 3+ years in supplier or CDMO management
- Experience with shipping and Logistics of GMP materials, clinical supplies, and managing cold chain/ultra cold chain operations
- Experience managing and providing sponsor oversight of work done by CDMO vendors
- Track record of working in matrix organization and influencing across multi-site, multi-function program teams
- Ability to communicate strategic and technical concepts, plans, and tradeoffs effectively to stakeholders at many levels of the organization and from different technical functions or backgrounds
- Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic start-up environment that requires learning new skills and technical details on the fly, and the ability to plan and execute while priorities change with emerging data
What will separate you from the crowd
- Experience with Cell and Gene Therapy CMC development
- Knowledge of the Cell and Gene Therapy CDMO and supplier landscapes
- Experience in late stage or commercial supply chain management
- Global logistics, import/export or customs brokerage
What you should know
- Some travel (<10%) to vendor locations and other Sana sites will be required
- The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $170,000and $200,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience
