Job Title: External Account Manager

Department: Sales

FLSA: Full-time, Exempt

Reports to: Director of Sales



Job Summary:

The External Account Manager is responsible for generating leads, promoting the company's services, building and maintaining client relationships, and closing sales deals. This role involves meeting new people, businesses, and companies to forge strong customer relationships and expand our brand across surrounding cities and metro areas. The position requires a high level of enthusiasm, professionalism, excellent communication skills, and the ability to travel to customer locations. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to be a key player in the growth of our company.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for upselling and cross selling our products and services, including trailers, containers, fences, and other related products.
  • Prospect for new business by visiting customer locations and developments to discuss services and products, showcasing our status as the premier provider of portable restroom services.
  • Drive sales through in-person visits, phone calls, emails, and participation in marketing and promotional events such as association events, community events, and industry conferences.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers to increase retention and customer lifetime value.
  • Create and maintain a sales pipeline and forecast to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Ensure high conversion rates by providing accurate and timely quotes and building strong customer relationships.
  • Utilize CRM software to manage leads, track sales activity, and analyze customer purchase history and preferences for cross-selling opportunities.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to develop new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the sales team and management to coordinate efforts and achieve common goals.
  • Continuously analyze sales data and metrics to optimize sales performance, sales cycle length, and reduce customer acquisition costs.
  • Conduct labor functions at Customer Job Sites, including Delivery, Service and Pickup of Portable Restrooms. Additionally, perform the Installation and Tear Down of Temporary Fence and other product offerings.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for building lasting relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, with high self-motivation and initiative.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and aptitude for learning sales/company-specific software.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a background check, DOT physical, and Drug Test as per federal DOT standards.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of sales experience, preferably in portable toilet rentals, sanitation services, construction, or similar fields.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to use a hand truck dolly to help maneuver portable toilet units.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and climb.
  • Ability to perform extensive standing, driving, and walking; to lift up to 50lbs. regularly; to transport and stock assigned supplies and materials; to wear personal protective equipment.
