Job Description
Summary
The Export Sales Assistant serves as the primary contact on all exports assigned accounts to ensure the smooth flow of orders, information and follow-up. In a typical day, the Export Sales Assistant will interact with international customers and brokers through email and phone calls; look up data and process orders through the business database; and communicate with other departments to confirm order details.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Establish and grow sales relationships with assigned customer accounts both domestic and international. Manage and maintain three or more major accounts.
- Responsible to quote orders
- Daily customer contact to facilitate the complete and correct order fulfillment process.
- Receive and write up orders
- Release products based on contracts
- Sales confirmations; coordination with the Procurement and Quality Assurance departments
- Arrange for logistics
- Maintain customer database and profiles.
- Sales forecast reports
- Broker volume reports
- Inventory reports
- Contract balance reports
- Month/Year end documents.
3. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of assigned brokers. Establish and maintain sales relationships with the assigned brokers to anticipate needs and suggest sales. Occasional travel for in-person customer/broker meetings and trade show attendance.
4. Support the sales and marketing team for trade show development and readiness, keeping up to date on promotional materials. Participate and travel to trade shows. Perform trade show follow up to assure timely delivery of literature and samples.
5. Understand all practices and procedures within the Sales Department. Provide explanations of procedures to co-workers from all departments to encourage understanding and teamwork. Suggest process improvements to the Customer Relations Manager.
6. Exercise discretion to adjust pricing as needed on a case-by-case basis to support sales and continuing customer relations.
7. Using internal knowledge resolves customer complaints with financial impact to the company.
9. Assist with special projects, duties, and/or assignments. All other duties as assigned.
10. Regular attendance during established business hours is an essential requirement of the position.

- High school diploma or GED required. BS/BA from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Marketing, or a closely related field.
- Two years in sales or related field demonstrating increasing responsibility and skill growth.
- Marketing and market planning knowledge preferred.
- PC-based computing experience (word processing-Word, spreadsheet-Excel, email-Outlook).
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Ability to read and comprehend English. Additional foreign language skills are helpful.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills to inform and persuade customers.
- Effective language and human relations skills are essential to developing and maintaining customers.
- Ability to create and deliver multimedia public presentations.
- Professional writing skills for composing memos, letters and other business correspondence, observing all rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Quantitative skills to analyze product and production vis-à-vis sales goals and customer orders.
- Ability to analyze market sales data and make recommendations.
- Ability to work independently in the absence of direct supervision; analyzing and identifying critical success factors relating to sales and taking effective action.
- Ability to make decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgment and make timely decisions.
- Ability to manage details and comprehend the full scope of Sales and Marketing goals.
- Standard office environment.

- Moderate amount of travel in and out of state required.
- Mobility between office and plant facility.
- Ability to work in a production plant environment which may include heat, cold, noise.

- Ability to use keyboard and monitor.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Occasionally, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to maintain regular and ongoing attendance.
