Job Duties and Responsibilities
Creates informed estimates and customer quotes for potential exhibits, products and services.
Communicates with clients in coordination with the Director of Traveling Exhibits and Exhibit Sales to ensure prompt responses and follow-up to customer inquiries.
Along with Director of Traveling Exhibits and Exhibit Sales, acts as a first point of contact for exhibits, services, and product service requests. Provide service repair quote and collaborates with other team members to repair software and hardware, build or remediate custom parts and props, and purchase resources.
Supports Director of Traveling Exhibits in coordinating responses to RFPs. Produces written materials and collaborates with the design department for photography and graphic design needed to create statements of qualifications and bid packages.
Works with the Director of Traveling Exhibits and Exhibit Sales to create sales materials for the exhibits, products and services program. Manage the updating of Exhibit Services portfolio and catalog.
Creates and maintains a database with documentation on past and current projects.
Provides all aspects of project management for small client projects including establishing, communicating, managing and updating budgets, schedules and documentation through experience development, design, prototyping, visitor testing, fabrication, and installation within the requirements established by Museum experiences management.
Work with the Director of Exhibit Project Management, Director of Exhibits, Director of Experience Development and Design, Director of Traveling Exhibits and Exhibit Sales, Director of Visitor Experiences and Director of Museum Technologies to identify resources for all work—determining what work will be conducted in-house, what will be assigned to contractors, and adjusting as necessary to assure the successful and timely completion of the work.
Directs the work of project-related staff and contractors to successfully complete projects within stringent constraints of schedule and budget.
Be a positive problem solver by identifying problems and risks and lead the team to developing resolutions.
Facilitate communication between project team members, other museum staff, advisors, external clients and partners, and contractors to ensure that project ideas and the products created meet the project’s vision and goals.
Manage conflict resolution and decision-making processes to ensure that the project stays on track and moves forward.
Coordinate and prioritize work of team members, other museum staff, advisors, and contractors to ensure that the workflow is efficient and in line with the goals of the project.
Promote a work culture of cooperation and respect in which all members of the project team are motivated and have the opportunity to contribute to their fullest ability.
Promote and maintain the highest possible standards of safety, quality, and accessibility in all projects.
Represent SMM to external partners and direct project teams to meet the needs of clients.
Provides back-up support for Traveling Exhibits Manager as needed. Field questions about traveling exhibits. Troubleshoots technical issues and provides expedient solutions to clients as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 3-5 years work in project management and estimating preferred.
Experience:
Experience estimating fabrication projects and providing customer quotes.
Excellent writing and documentation skills
Knowledge of labor and material costs.
Background producing exhibits or similar.
Demonstrated experience with building and maintaining a network of customers and providing customer service.
Demonstrable knowledge of project management and product sales concepts.
Understanding of marketing techniques, especially in a business to business environment.
Curiosity towards the scientific endeavor desired.
Cultural competency and experience working with diverse communities.

Work Environment: Hybrid open office environment. In office 3-5 days per week is preferred.
Starting compensation is 65k - 70k
