Overview:
The incumbent will be a highly polished corporate C-Suite Level Executive to serve as a committed and driven agent of change. Reporting directly to the CEO, the EVP of Business Development will have direct oversight of Sales, Research and Development, and Marketing. Major accountabilities involve the formulation and implementation of strategic recommendations and delivery of innovative solutions, delivering fast, scalable, cumulative, and continuous growth across all brands.

The EVP of Business Development will lead by modeling the entrepreneurial, ambitious, and humble culture of our organization which defines our uniquely innovative, rich history and tradition. They are a leader who has significant experience in the development and management of complex sales, and an understanding of the channel and distributed sales ecosystem.
The EVP of Business Development is expected to help provide vision and strategic direction for the company. They will have responsibility and accountability for meeting the goals and objectives of the company and will develop growth strategies and identify business opportunities that lead to future financial growth. This leader will have a history of exceeding sales quotas, building sales teams, and developing and delivering growth for multiple company brands.

Key responsibilities & essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
  • Foster a positive working environment, which allows employees the opportunity for professional growth, and accountability. This person must have “Leadership Agility” in order to maintain business success in our increasingly complex, fast-paced and changing business environment.
  • Own and drive full accountability for development and implementation of product marketing and product development strategy and initiatives, client communication, process improvement, industry research, and ROI from daily activities.
  • Ownership for sales. Drive achievement of annual sales targets and profitability targets. Develop and manage division sales and expense budgets. Drive the resolution to amicably overcome channel conflicts.
  • Identify, develop and drive innovative new product lines and company brands. Be a strong leader focused on growth, rallying a team comprised of internal and external Business Development representatives and other stakeholders to deliver revenue goals.
  • Facilitate annual strategic review and goal setting processes by identifying gaps and obstacles in reaching the monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.
  • Deliver regular reporting to CEO on market analysis with a focus upon competition, pricing, market conditions, as well as new and existing product lines.
  • Provide recommendations on new products and technologies to meet market demands.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership team to develop and execute the company’s strategic plan.
  • Continually evaluates the effectiveness of the Business Development performance against market constraints and changes and revises the Business Development plan as appropriate.
  • Work with Marketing to develop new ways to attract and engage leads to track and adjust marketing spend to drive sales ROI.
  • Continuously develop fresh and creative initiatives to drive sales team success.
  • Develop and deploy cross functional tools, policies, and practices to drive sales, increase profitability and streamline process. Analyze data and synthesize it into areas of sales and marketing focus, sales tools needed, technology solutions required, etc.
  • Drive strategic cross functional team leadership in areas of R&D, Sales, Specification Sales, Product Marketing, Sales Support, and Integration Business Development.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and direction in accordance with entrepreneurial culture, policies, and core values.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong, effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain and leverage strong customer network at influential levels – personal involvement securing outcomes with key deals and customers.
  • Work closely with business unit managers on pricing, volume and market strategies to maximize profitability and value to the company
  • Lead and improve the ability to provide an accurate sales forecast.
  • Successfully develop and manage expense budgets to meet profitability goals.
  • Human capital development, mentoring, and succession planning.

Requirements For Consideration:
  • Master of Business Administration preferred.
  • 15 years + of innovative lighting industry experience including managing multiple channels of distribution with the ability to amicably overcome channel conflicts.
  • A proven record of analyzing market research, competitor analysis, and industry trends and making creative recommendations based on opportunities and threats to the business.
  • P&L responsibility with a proven track record of successful sales and profitability.
  • Experience with Integrated Lean Six Sigma methodology and a track record of implementing scalable procedures that drive fast growth in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Significant leadership experience working with multiple business channels including and not limited to large scale Showrooms, electrical distributors, Hospitality, Integration, Irrigation, specification sales and internet channels within architectural and decorative product markets.
  • Proven track record overseeing multiple product lines and brands.
  • Solid history of strategic, swift decision-making ability.
  • Documented high level verbal and written presentation skills with a strong ability to gain buy in at all levels.
  • Reputation for executing a hands-on, leadership by example management style.
  • Evidenced commitment to professional development and continuing education.
  • Experience sourcing in Asia.
  • Travel will be required, including regular presence in the NY Corporate Headquarters.
