The United Way of Northwest Connecticut brings together community leaders, businesses, non-profit organizations, and volunteers to respond to the most pressing needs in our community and provides the resources – human, technical and financial – to get to the heart of problems and implement solutions. The Executive Director has an overall goal of recreating the foundation of the organization to achieve long-term success of the United Way of Northwest Connecticut.
The Executive Director provides visionary leadership to the organization to meet its mission and achieve community impact.
The Executive Director will bring exceptional leadership and strategic abilities, strong organizational managaement and communication skills; will work across private, public and corporate sectors to improve conditions in the community; and will be an efficient fundraiser for United way of Northwest CT with the ability to conceive of, build support for , and implement strategies for increasing funding to meet community needs. This individual will be responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization. Ideal candidate is knowledgeable of the Northwest CT community in order to further grow and develop partnerships with key stakeholders for alignment, programming, and fundraising purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with the Board of Directors to develop organizational goals and operational objectives
- Successfully implement operational objectives and document progress and outcomes
- Establish a leadership role in community planning efforts to address issues, funding needs and program needs based on current needs of community members
- Work closely with the Board to develop fundraising strategies and goals and recruit volunteers to assist with implementation
- Manage and implement all elements of fundraising campaigns
- In conjunction with the board, establish, document and implement a method for distributing raised funds to community organizations
- Reengage with community stakeholders including donors, board members, and affiliated agencies
- Gain an understanding of the current database and office functions (complete an overall assessment)
- Review donor database, review reports and share updates on key findings
- Prepare reports, minutes and other materials and ensure content is distributed in advance of Board meetings
- Recruit if necessary, supervise, train, assign and oversee work of clerical support staff, within the limits of the approved operating budget. Make staffing recommendations as part of the development of the annual operating budget
- Be responsive to and supportive of changing priorities and board directives and able to manage multiple projects
- Present the United Way in a positive light, promoting success through multiple communication methods
- Assess progress toward goals, success of strategies and provide future recommendations
Pay range: $60,000 - $95,000 Base Salary with opportunity for bonus pay
- Schedule: Monday – Friday including periodic evening meetings and events and occasional weekend community events
