Job Description
The Strategic Innovation Alliances team works with our Company's Global Health Innovation Fund (GHIF) to facilitate the interaction of GHIF portfolio companies with our business units and functions through an innovative process called Enterprise Coverage. Enterprise Coverage builds on the philosophy that GHIF can assist our company's Business Units to source high impact, external innovation at scale.
As part of that effort, the Strategic Innovation Alliances function acts as a liaison to our business units, functions, therapeutic areas and geographies in helping to identify business needs, map our company's needs to external capabilities, make introductions to portfolio companies, and oversee project status and impact. This work is done in conjunction with and through guidance from Global Health Innovation (GHI) investors and Enterprise Coverage Leads, who work with our company's partners to identify critical strategic priorities.
The Executive Director, Strategic Innovation Alliances has responsibility to active manage current projects, work with stakeholders across our company to translate needs to capability maps, facilitate interactions between our company's business development professionals and GHIF portfolio companies, and develop and track project progress and metrics associated with milestone achievements.
The role builds on expertise and an interest in emerging healthcare technologies and solutions with a specific focus on translating the capabilities of our GHI Portfolio companies into real world engagements that support our company's digital initiatives. Overall the role aims to create long-term value for our company's novel products and are consistent with our company's stated objectives of innovation on behalf of patients. The role unites elements of consulting, stakeholder management, alliances management and project management.
This position will report to the Strategic Innovation Alliances Lead and is expected to collaborate across our business units (Research and Development, Global Human Health, Manufacturing) as well as functional and therapeutic area partners. This role will also support GHI's collaborations outside the US, including innovation accelerators.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Enterprise Coverage: Generate and implement practical ideas to improve Enterprise Coverage end-to-end process (e.g. project development, interaction facilitation, and tracking progress) aligned with the Strategic Innovation Alliances scope. This role will be responsible for coordination among three main stakeholders of Enterprise Coverage including GHIF investors, project sponsors/ owners, and GHI portfolio companies and pipeline prospects. Understanding stakeholders' business needs and building relationships are critical components of delivering on Enterprise Coverage goals and objectives.
  • Idea Generation: In collaboration with others, translate teams' ideas to clear problem statements aligned with high priority/ high impact business pillars. In this role, the individual will work across our company's functions (R&D, Manufacturing, Global Human Health, IT, CORE) to develop and collect ideas/ business needs, prioritize them based on a set of criteria, and develop inter-function collaborations to move high priority high impact ideas to further development.
  • Innovative Collaborations: Map the required capabilities derived from the problem's statements development to external landscape of GHIF portfolio companies and pipeline candidates and facilitate the external company's introduction to, and interaction with our Business Development function and business unit project owners.
  • Portfolio Acceleration Program: Lead the Portfolio Acceleration Program ("PAP") through all phases from concept design, sponsor alignment, budget processing and execution in support of novel collaborations, funded by GHI via the PAP, on behalf of and in conjunction with our company's project teams.
  • Project/Portfolio/Alliance Management: Work with the project owners and business development leads to monitor project progress and milestones of ongoing projects between GHIF portfolio companies and our internal business units/functions. The appropriate candidate will be able to support to project owners as needed (e.g., idea generation session, landscape mapping workshops, transaction management) should these capabilities be required/ requested for high priority projects. Additionally as appropriate, the candidate should help address and resolve concerns between the portfolio company and our company's stakeholders.
  • GHI Accelerator Programs: Manage activities as needed related to GHI accelerator programs, including management of the application and selection process, liaising on behalf of our company and the start-up companies, communicating internally regarding accelerator progress, working with others to maintain an accelerator website, and sharing and expanding best practices.
  • Senior Management Interactions: Provide regular progress report presentations to the GHIF team and senior sponsors about Enterprise Coverage activities and ongoing projects. It is critical to keep the project development and project progress documentation updated and provide business value-oriented reports to management.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Act as a liaison between the Strategic Innovation Alliances and our company's functions including Marketing, IT, Finance, Legal, Business Development, CORE, and others to facilitate meetings, presentations, decision making workshops, etc. This role will work with the GHIF and business unit teams to formalize and share best practices. Due to highly collaborative nature of the role, the individual should be able to build relationships with key stakeholders across our functions, coordinate the interactions, and be skilled at leading processes and large teams without authority.

Education:
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred: Advanced Degree (e.g. MBA, PhD)

Required Experience and Skills:
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in healthcare related fields.
  • Minimum 10 years domain expertise in healthcare strategy, alliance management, and project management. A strong understanding of the digital health ecosystem is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent presentation skills and executive presence.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected salary range:
$259,440.00 - $408,300.00
