Gundersen Health System is seeking a part-time RN, Stroke Program Coordinator. This is your opportunity to do the work you love in the beautiful Coulee region.
What you will do:
  • 0.6 FTE = 48 hours/every two weeks
  • Work 8-hour day shifts between the hours of 0730-1700. No weekends, holidays, or call obligations!
  • Provide clinical and system connections across the health system and region supporting regional affiliate and partnered critical access hospitals.
  • Responsible for education development and delivery across the health system and region
  • Partners with the Stroke Coordinator in process improvement initiatives for the delivery of stroke care
  • Serves as a liaison to the community, supporting stroke education awareness by identifying and implementing community outreach events
  • This position will include travel to regional locations (worksite location will be regional hospital and remote)

What you need:
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing
  • 3-4 years of RN experience, experience in clinical neuroscience and leadership skills preferred
  • RN licensure to practice in the state of Wisconsin upon hire
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers

Job Description:
Provides clinical and system connections across the health system and region including primarily in emergency services, neuro unit, critical care, interventional radiology, post anesthesia care unit, regional affiliate and partnered critical access hospitals. Responsible for education development and delivery across the health system and region. Partners with the Stroke Coordinator in process improvement initiatives for the delivery of stroke care. Responsible for all aspects of the telespecialists (virtual neurology) program. Partners with regional administrative and clinician leaders, telespecialists leadership and GHS stroke team regarding regional education, performance and quality improvement needs. Serves as a liaison to the community, supporting stroke education awareness by identifying and implementing community outreach events.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates high level knowledge or established guidelines, algorithms and procedures related to stroke care.
2. Maintains continuing knowledge in the area of stroke data management, medical terminology, and related topics by staying abreast of changes in medication practice, registry standards and participation in internal stroke conferences and meetings.
3. Collaborates with and under the direction of the Stroke Program Manager and Clinical Operations Director, analyzes and shares stroke related data across the health system including regional affiliate and partnered sites along with telespecialists.
4. Partners with TeleSpecialists QIRN and site leadership to address any concerns or process improvement needs across all telespecialists sites.
5. Supports administrative goals of the neuroscience division and stroke program.
6. Monitor and trends effectiveness of implemented policies, procedures, guidelines, education across the health system, region and the telespecialists contract.
7. Works with regional CAH and telespecialists team members to plan, develop, implement, monitor, and sustain strategies to assure compliance and competency in relation to regulatory standards, institutional licensing and accrediting agencies, GHS strategic plan and policy and practice.
8. Coordinates and implements stroke care education needs across the system as identified by the stroke board and department leadership teams in alignment with best practice and The Joint Commission.
9. Works with members of the inter-professional team to plan, develop, implement, monitor, and sustain strategies to assure compliance and competency in relation to regulatory standards, institutional licensing and accrediting agencies, GHS strategic plan and policy and practice.
10. Demonstrates the ability to utilize a variety of teaching/learning methodologies and technologies (presentation skills, facilitation skills, adult learning principles, small/large group exercises, knowledge of age-related competencies, computers skills and e-learning).
11. Coordinates the marketing and public education for stroke prevention and stroke awareness.
12. Chairs relevant stroke program committee related to education, quality improvement and regulatory adherence.
13. Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.
14. Maintains clinical data integrity and all of studies in accordance with federal regulations, Gundersen Institutional Review Board, HIPPA and GHS medical records policies.
Education and Learning:
REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree in Nursing
DESIRED
Master's degree in Nursing
Work Experience:
REQUIRED
3-4 years of nursing experience
DESIRED
2 years of experience in clinical neuroscience nursing and experience demonstrating leadership skills
License and Certifications:
REQUIRED
Registered Nurse (RN) licensed minimally in the state of practice, some positions may require additional state RN licenses.
Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross
