Job description

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE:
Manages and facilitates the establishment of key community and business partnerships within all WS/FCS communities in an effort to help WS/FCS reach its strategic goals. Work includes facilitating and coordinating a robust Community Engagement plan and strategies for WS/FCS that is aligned with the strategic goals. There will be a strong focus on building relationships with volunteer groups, local community partners, businesses, and child/youth service providers. Works closely with Communications to coordinate the planning and execution of relevant programs, campaigns, stakeholder informational events, and other events as needed to build community awareness and engagement with school district initiatives. Keeps partners informed and educated about initiatives and the outcomes of programs within the district. Plays a key role in managing and creating processes and budgets for engagement programs while clearly communicating district priorities. Helps to determine ways to improve community relationships and works to determine the impact of the relationships and associated programs. Also visits community and business partners to maintain relationships and represents the district at community events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manages engagement programs, projects and initiatives.
  • Engages existing partners, business, and donors and while cultivating new relationships.
  • Communicates district priorities, fundraising goals and status of projects.
  • Assists in planning and executing the district vision and ensuring the engagement activities align with district goals.
  • Researches programs and partnerships that have measurable and outcome driven results.
  • Participates in building and managing program budgets.
  • Researches potential partners and makes recommendation to the Superintendent.
  • Serves as district representative on community boards and organizations
  • Raises corporate and community support through participating in grant writing, outside development activities, working with event committees, developing and maintaining strategic funding opportunities and relationships
  • Can serve as a district representative in speaking engagements.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of sophisticated, multi-faceted engagement, partnership, and fundraising strategies and operations.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn district organization, operations, policies and objectives.
  • Excellent communications skills, including speaking, listening and writing.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and juggle numerous projects efficiently.
  • Ability to quickly analyze situations, determine course of action and respond effectively and promptly.
  • Skill in building partnerships with the community, local businesses and other WS/FCS stakeholders.
  • Ability to speak comfortably in public to a broad audience.
  • Ability to work confidentially and with discretion.
  • Ability to build cooperative relationships with potential donors while ensuring best business practices are followed.
  • Networking skills and ability to build and sustain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups.
  • Ability to meet schedules and deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and accomplish goals.
  • Strong process design skills.
  • Ability to help build and manage program budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a bridge builder between complex and sometimes competing interests.
  • Ability to work independently and know when to seek help

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, public administration, communications, or a related field. Five (5) years of experience in project management or community partnership
  • Desirable: Master's Degree, fundraising experience
