Job description

Cornerstone Treatment Facility Program, Inc. offers psychoeducational and relational support, behavioral modeling of interventions, and supervision to the consumers residing in a home of Cornerstone Treatment Facility Program, Inc. These preplanned therapeutically structured interventions occur as required and outlined in the consumer’s service plan. Staff also monitor, treat, and assess the emotional, psychiatric and behavioral needs of this special population, and assist with coordinating service needs for children or adolescents. Qualified professional staff is responsible for provision of direct psychoeducational services to children or adolescents. Staff will participate in treatment planning meetings and are responsible for coordination of each child or adolescent’s treatment plan. Qualified professional staff will provide basic case management functions such as: coordinate, link, assist and monitor the educational, medical, mental health treatment, social and other non-treatment needs of the residents. Qualified staff is also responsible for overseeing any emergencies and should be available by telephone or page at all times. The qualified professional shall perform clinical and administrative responsibilities a minimum of 40 hours per week. The ability to adjust to changes with consumers and within the agency is necessary. This position is under the supervision and guidance of the Clinical Director and is subject to a performance review and appraisal at least once per year. This position is exempt, under federal labor laws and regulations.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

75% Residential Treatment Services

  • Provides treatment to children or adolescents residing in the facility with mental illness, emotional disturbance or substance related disorders and youths with co-occurring disorders including developmental disabilities.
  • Responsible for provision of direct psychoeducational and relational support, behavioral modeling of interventions and supervision to children or adolescents.
  • Provide information to and consult with consumers and families/legally responsible persons on person centered plans and other issues.
  • Participate in treatment plan meetings and assist in coordination of treatment plans.
  • Assess and monitor a consumer’s progress and psychiatric/emotional stability.
  • Providing mental health and/or substance abuse education and support to consumers and families.
  • Provide or arrange for individual and group therapy for consumers, as indicated in- person centered plan.
  • Assist the individual in the acquisition of adaptive functioning in self-control, communication, social and recreational skills.
  • Support the child or adolescent in gaining the skills needed to step-down to a less intensive treatment setting.
  • Clinically consult with a supervisor, treating physician or other service providers to coordinate treatment.
  • Participates in on-call rotation for residents and directly manages any emergencies that may arise at Cornerstone Treatment Facility Program, Inc. and is available by telephone or pager at all times.
  • Coordinate educational services to meet development of child/adolescent.

15% Medical Records

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of need for services, services provided and service outcomes for all assigned clinical cases and services in accordance with North Carolina DD/MH/SAS standards.
  • Completion of necessary assessment tools and documentation to meet agency requirements. (i.e.: Person Centered Plan, NC-TOPPS, GAF, IPRS, Internal Authorizations, etc.)

10% Organizational Support

  • Attend and participate in clinical training, in-service training, workshops and conferences.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled administrative staff meetings.
  • Serve on internal agency committees, such as task forces, QA/QI, and other committees as appropriate.
  • Provide special consultation in consumer and stakeholder satisfaction studies and other quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in scheduled clinical and administrative supervision of associate professionals.
  • Maintain and enhance clinical skills through professional readings and attendance at recommended training events.
  • Other activities that relate to job title duties.

NOTE: Some weekend and evening work may be required. Will participate in on call rotation to provide 24/7 coverage.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required: Graduate with a four (4) year bachelor degree in a human service field and two (2) years experience with the population served; OR a substance abuse professional who has two years of full time experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling; OR a graduate with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than human services and has four years of fulltime MH/DD/SA experience with the population served; OR a substance abuse professional who has four years of full time experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling. OR any combination of experience, skills and competencies that is equivalent.

Licenses or Certificates Required: Must possess a current NC Driver’s License, which is clear of violations reflecting a poor driving record. Personal vehicle insurance as required.

Special Knowledge, Skills, Physical Requirements, or other factors

  • General understanding of behavioral patterns and attitudes common in varying degrees with children and adolescents served in the MH/SA populations, and if applicable DD population.
  • Ability to deal patiently and fairly with staff, consumers, family and others.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships and present an atmosphere of teamwork.
  • Consistent awareness of health and safety needs for all consumers and staff.
  • Demonstrate good oral, written, and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of State and Medicaid requirements as they relate to the provision of Residential Treatment services.
