GUILFORD YACHT CLUB EVENTS MANAGER
This position is responsible for obtaining bookings, maximizing revenue and maintaining quality of facility and guest experience at the Guilford Yacht Club (GYC). The Events Manager will help orchestrate the overall quality and experience of our pristine venue bookings, from initial inquiry through event completion and cleanup.
Founded in 1954 and located on an award-winning secluded >20-acre waterfront property nestled along the picturesque Connecticut shoreline, the Guilford Yacht Club is one of Long Island Sound’s premiere yachting facilities and a stunningly exquisite venue to host any celebration.
As far as the eye can see, one is surrounded by undisturbed natural beauty, including spectacular views of
Long Island Sound and Faulkner’s Island. With a gracious lawn overlooking the water and a large 8400 square foot indoor reception area with hardwood floors, the Guilford Yacht Club can accommodate events for up to 150 seated guests inside or up to 300 guests under a beautiful tent on the grounds.
I) DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Marketing
Creatively manage all aspects of marketing the GYC event venue to the public and GYC members using all available methods to ensure projected booking and revenue goals.
- Event staffing & Vendor Coordination
Hire, train, schedule and manage a small team of GYC day-of event support staff (e.g., parking attendants, building oversight personnel and post-event cleaning services.)
Maintain relationships and coordinate with various outside vendors (e.g., Catering, Florists, etc.)
- Facility readiness & integrity
Ensure that the GYC event venue is in continued pristine condition prior to and after each event.
- Metrics Reporting
Track and report sales numbers, trajectories, marketing strategy analysis, and/or other relevant details to GYC leadership.
II) REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in marketing and sales of events and/or event space.
- Experience and/or willingness to collaborate with catering and other event-based vendors.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Personnel management experience.
- Working knowledge of office software including: Microsoft Office Products, Point of Sale systems and Payroll software.
- Working knowledge of social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.
- Ability to utilize and/or desire to learn marketing websites.
- Ability to set in-person tour schedule to meet client demands and respond to electronically generated inquiries promptly.
- Ability to attend monthly GYC leadership meetings.
III) SALARY & SCHEDULE
Base stipend plus highly competitive commission. Schedule is flexible based on booking needs.
