EVENT COORDINATOR
Lazarus House is a homeless shelter located in downtown Saint Charles, IL. We are a 24/7 program that serves people in need of a safe place to stay. We provide shelter, meals, case management, as well as educational and employment classes to all who enter our doors. We have emergency shelter and transitional living programs. We also offer financial assistance programs for people to remain housed in the community.
Position Description Overview
This position is responsible for planning and promoting the Lazarus House events and fundraisers with a focus on strengthening community relations to increase donor and volunteer base, as well as community mission awareness.
This part-time position has a flexible schedule of 28 hours per week (5-6 hours per day Monday through Friday.) Evening hours will occasionally be required, and hours often increase during the week of major events.
Essential Job Functions
· Oversee planning and execution of staff-led fundraising events, both large and small, securing corporate event sponsors and utilizing Lazarus House’s vast network of volunteers and community supporters.
· Lead event teams and train volunteers for event roles and tasks.
· Perform post event tasks including team follow-ups, invoice review, payment approval, etc.
· Maintain and adhere to event and fundraising budgets and timelines.
· Draft press releases, flyers and articles for the quarterly newsletter and monthly e-blasts and social media in support of fundraisers and other activities.
· Maintain and update event pages of the Lazarus House website.
· Acquire knowledge of and utilize fundraising software.
· Represent Lazarus House with professionalism at all events and in the community, appropriately sharing the Lazarus House story.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Minimum of two-year experience in event planning and/or fundraising
· Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
· Public speaking experience a plus.
· Demonstrates intermediate skills with various computer programs and social media
· A self-starter who works with professional independence
· Successful at facilitating team meetings and coordinating volunteer involvement in events and projects
· Valid Illinois driver's license and auto insurance
· Graduation from an accredited college a plus
· Prior experience with event software a plus
