Job description

JOB OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for planning and executing events and conventions for business divisions. These responsibilities include pre-planning, communication, coordinating, shipping, labor coordination, on-site execution and management, on-site decision making, and post show wrap up. Manages event and convention budgets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participates and coordinates aspects of all events and conventions. Includes, but not limited to space reservation, contract specs, labor coordination, exhibit coordination, shipping, on-site execution, on-site decision making. Negotiates contracts and manages relationships with outside vendors
  • Provides financial management including assistance with budget development, preparing and coding check requests, maintaining and reporting budget expenditures and following established record keeping procedures. Manages the budget for meetings and is responsible for any on-site decision making for cost savings.
  • This position must display extraordinary follow-through skills, organization and multi task skills as well as plan and manage time effectively. They need to be outgoing and confident in the decisions made on a daily basis. Possess strong negotiation skills which will give results to the North American Business’s resulting in cost savings.
  • Develops and maintains solid relationships with vendors and partners, working with a wide variety of personality types.
  • Develops information kits detailing all pertinent information about each event and initiates communications with appropriate staff/vendors to review and evaluate information. Partners with the Manager, Event and Convention Communication to manage communication lines and portals.
  • Partners and assists Event Manager in larger events to develop skills. Participates in the creation of each event/convention.
  • Responsible for solution finding on all events and conventions. This position is willing to share ideas that differ from how the business division thought. Communicates explanations that persuade the division to encourage the team to give careful consideration to the information and have the confidence to voice their opinion.
  • Works independently without direct supervision or encouragement while being accountable for all decisions and projects. Works independently and demonstrates creative, proactive thinking, inspired by a vision. Processes information quickly and correctly.
  • Evaluates and manages the exhibit show material for all conventions. Partners with outside contacts to oversee cost saving efforts and collaborates with Exhibit Houses for each Business Division. Ensures all necessary items reach each show on time and in the most economical manner possible.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE:
Intermediate level professional; developing knowledge within own discipline. Some evaluation, originality or ingenuity required to perform tasks. Frequently apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field. Apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
COMPLEXITY:
Work on problems of limited to moderate scope and impact where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Analyze possible solutions using standard procedures to solve straightforward problems. Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practice to determine appropriate action. Build productive internal/external working relationships.
SUPERVISION:
Receive a moderate level of instruction on day-to-day work and detailed instruction and guidance on new projects or assignments.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Typically 2 to 4 years of related professional experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Typically a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in related discipline.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Excellent computer skills including web knowledge. Position also demands a high degree of professionalism and excellent written skills. Candidate needs to be able to able to prioritize and meet deadlines. Candidate should be detail oriented as well as analytical to solve problems.
  • 4 year degree is preferred.
TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Travel typically 40%. May be required to ship items and lift boxes 15-30 pounds in weight.
The posted range for this position is $61,085 to $106,898 which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc.
This position is eligible for a [bonus/incentive] not reflected in the posted range.
