Familiar with and/or working knowledge of Conference Planning & Management events (Ex: Odyssey of the Mind World Finals, Seed Science Center workshop series)
Experience working with registration services and contact management systems such as Ungerboeck

Job Description:

The Department of Conference Planning and Management (CPM) with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is seeking qualified candidates for Event Planner I.

This position will report to the Director and coordinate all event planning functions and services required by small and mid-level conferences and events through the office of Conference Planning and Management. The position will work directly with client, vendors, and providers through all stages to plan and execute the event, including facility and event logistics, registration, transportation, speaker management, special events/tours, etc. This position will handle registration coordination for multiple conferences events, including participant information, materials and management of registration conference databases and reports.

Event and conference coordination requires budget planning, development, preparation and on-site coordination making exceptional organizational skills essential to being successful in this position. The successful candidate must possess exceptional organizational skills to be able to coordinate multiple programs at one time that may vary in size and location. Considerable creativity, tact, diplomacy, flexibility and advocacy are necessary to work with clients, boards, committees and a wide range of service providers to cover programs as needed.

Due to the nature of position, this person must be available and willing to work weekends, evenings, and possibly holidays on occasion.

While this position is based out of Ames, it will require travel between event locations and around the university. Candidate must have access to reliable transportation or be able to drive an university vehicle.

This is a regular with term appointment(fixed term) position through 6/30/2024, with opportunity for renewal.

• May lead projects of limited scope and complexity
• May provide guidance to students
