Event Attendant

Position Title: Event Attendant
This is a Temporary/Seasonal Part-Time Position. Can Not Exceed 119 Days
Exempt/Non-Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Event Operations Supervisor Supervises: N/A Salary Range: $8.50-$11.50 per hour (wage based on experience and qualifications) Position Purpose: (general statement regarding the overall objective of the position)
Provides janitorial and set-up/tear-down support to the Event Operations department Essential Functions: (list of material responsibilities and essential duties which must be completed in achieving the objectives of the position)

1. Sets-up and dismantles a variety of structures and booths for various events held throughout the year at the fairgrounds
2. Prepares exhibit buildings for move-in by cleaning and stocking supplies
3. Operates a variety of equipment including forklifts, manlifts, floor scrubbers, motorized utility carts and hand tools
4. Cleans and stocks restrooms and inventories janitorial supplies
5. Removes trash from buildings and around the property, and empties and relines trash barrels
6. Adheres to all workplace and job specific safety guidelines, and uses personal protective equipment as instructed

Secondary Functions: (list of other duties which can be completed in support of the essential functions)

1. Coordinates requests from event promoters with other departments including Maintenance and Events Sales & Service
2. Provides information to supervisor for event recap reports.
3. Maintains daily notes on specific tasks assigned and equipment rented

Qualifications: (Statements regarding minimum education and experience qualifications, required proficiencies with specialized knowledge, computer proficiencies, required certifications, etc.)

1. Must be at least 18 years of age
2. Must possess a valid California drivers license
3. Previous experience with janitorial work necessary
4. Ability to successfully handle and prioritize multiple tasks required
5. Ability to work well with others a must
6. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with supervisor, co-workers and patrons necessary
7. Excellent teamwork skills required

Special Qualifications: (Optional section: any travel, security, risk, hazard or related special conditions which apply to the position)

1. Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as demanded by events and programs.

Preferences: (Optional section: preferred attributes for the position which are not absolutely required in the minimum qualifications (i.e. multi-lingual, masters degree, etc.)

1. Ability to operate forklifts, manlifts, floor scrubbers, carts and hand tools strongly preferred.
2. basic knowledge of the proper use of hand tools a plus

The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud, particularly when working outdoors or in an exhibit building.
