About Provide

Founded in 1992, Provide is a national remote-work organization working to ensure that there is access to abortion, especially for those living in rural communities and Southern and Midwestern states. Provide educates and supports health and social service providers to be able to give the care and support those facing an unintended pregnancy need. Our work is rooted in the on-the-ground realities of people's lives and of the systems and resources that are available to them. We believe that everyone has a role in supporting access to abortion care and that by giving people the tools and resources to play their role we can transform the way abortion is experienced where improved access is needed most.


Provide is seeking an Evaluation and Learning Specialist to grow our evaluation department and support our work of collecting, analyzing, and Learning from data to tell the story of how our programs support health care and social service providers serving clients in need of abortion care and other stigmatized services.


We are looking for someone with experience in evaluation, data analysis and data management, reporting, and data visualization to help build our internal evaluation capacity to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders. Our ideal candidate has a well-developed skill set in working with qualitative and quantitative data, is adept at translating data into meaningful insights, is both detail oriented and creative in their thinking, and has a commitment to advancing justice through equitable evaluation.


This position is a full-time (40 hr/week) remote work position based in the US. The Evaluation and Learning Specialist reports to the Director of Program Evaluation and provides support and capacity all core functions of the Department of Program Evaluation.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS – 25%

  • Work in collaboration with and under supervision of the Director of Program Evaluation to manage the collection of program Evaluation and research data including and not limited to;
  • Managing qualitative and quantitative data collection evaluating our core menu of trainings (pretest, immediate posttest, 3 month post, follow-up surveys)
  • Qualitative and quantitative data for special projects or new programs
  • Quality control of program participation and attendance data
  • Assessment data for learning about the needs of our target audiences, including survey data, focus group data, and interview data
  • Qualitative and quantitative data learning about client experiences, people with lived experiences, people who can get pregnant, and people needing/accessing abortion and other stigmatized care
  • Data related to any research projects that may be developed through grants, collaborative initiatives, or internal work
  • Data on the impact of our Technical Assistance work with specific sites changes internal policy, practices, and culture
  • Clean and maintain datasets within Provide’s program database, or separately for specific projects
  • Conduct basic statistical analyses on program participation, outcome data (pre/post change, intent to change, satisfaction, confidence and comfort), and needs assessment data
  • Support data collection and analysis for any research projects being conducted, following those specific research protocols

DATABASE MANAGEMENT – 20%

  • Work under the supervision of the Director of Program Evaluation to ensure the ongoing quality and fidelity of the data being collected through and entered into the Provide Program Database. This includes tasks such as:
  • Reviewing new registration, participation, and survey data for errors and addressing errors as they are found
  • Ensuring all automations continue to work properly
  • Uploading external data into the database as needed, for special projects
  • Monitor and address any errors that arise in Provide’s internal data dashboards
  • Serving as a point person for issues that staff experience with the database, and escalating the request as needed for technical support

UPDATE AND DEVELOP PROGRAM REPORTS AND INFOGRAPHICS – 30%

  • Work under the supervision of the Director of Program Evaluation to update annual standard reports including:
  • Abortion Referrals Training Annual Report
  • Web-Based Programs Annual Report
  • Annual Program Summary Infographics
  • Special Program Summary Reports
  • Work in collaboration to develop and design new reports and infographics, as needed, to advance our data communication strategy
  • Collaborate with Programs Division and the Technical Assistance Manager to complete summary reports for sites completing focused training, as a deliverable for those partnerships

SUPPORT INTERNAL PROVIDE TEAMS AND STAFF BY FACILITATING ONGOING DATA UTILIZATION AND LEARNING – 15%

  • Complete quarterly updates in all staff meetings summarizing key insights from program data
  • Share data and insights in team meetings, as specified by our Evaluation Calendar and/or needs as they arise for Program staff
  • Work in collaboration with the Director of Program Evaluation to encourage active engagement and Learning from the data from program staff, co-facilitating data parties and generative discussion in meetings
  • Work with Program staff to document and monitor data-driven program improvements

ADDITIONAL DUTIES – 10%

  • Communicate work and project management updates through Asana (our project management platform), to all staff, and appropriate teams as needed or determined by our departmental reporting schedule
  • Participate in organizational and department planning meetings, as requested
  • Attend team meetings (e.g., department, interdepartmental, all staff) via video conference regularly and with enthusiasm
  • Represent Provide at conferences as requested

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data
  • Knowledge of core principles and methods used in Evaluation and research
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to stay on top of multiple projects, anticipate obstacles, identify and involve stakeholders appropriately, and communicate progress and status readily
  • Comfortable using or learning how to use various tools and programs needed to complete tasks of data collection, analysis, and database management (examples: Qualtrics, SPSS, SAS, RStudio, SQL, Excel, etc.).
  • Comfortable using or learning how to use various tools and programs needed to complete tasks related to data communication and reporting (examples: Visme, Powerpoint, Microsoft suite tools like Excel and Word, Google Data Studio, etc.).
  • Understanding the role of systematic oppression (white supremacy, racism, sexism, ableism, classism, transphobia, etc.) in producing reproductive and other health disparities
  • Basic skills in data visualization tools and techniques, with a desire and demonstrated ability to improve these skills over time
  • Demonstrated ability to summarize and report on key data in a meaningful way, and understand data use and value from a range of different types of stakeholders.
  • Basic knowledge of relational databases, and some experience with medium-size datasets with many different variables.
  • Strong written and oral communication and the ability to adapt communication to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work within a highly collaborative remote, team-oriented environment which includes proficiency in using technology to communicate internally and externally, and to report on and manage projects.
  • Persistence, resourcefulness, and the ability to identify opportunities and needs as well as respond to these creatively and flexibly.
  • Commitment to and excitement about Provide’s core mission, values and programs.
  • Nice-to-have: research skills and/or knowledge (study design, familiarity with the research process, analysis skills), a collaborative orientation to work, design skills, and experience in evaluation work in the reproductive health field.

Salary Range and Benefits

The Evaluation and Learning Specialist position is a full-time position, with a salary of $65,000.


An important note about equitable pay and the posted salary: It is well researched and documented that the process of salary negotiation is uncomfortable at best, inequitable at worst. Provide is committed to fairly and equitably compensating our team members from day one. Therefore, the posted salary and benefit package is our best offer. We have done a considerable amount of research to ensure the salary offered with this position is within the industry range for the skill set and experience we are seeking. It’s important to understand that there will be no salary negotiations should an offer be extended. Location

Provide staff are remote workers and we do not have a physical location. This is a remote position for an applicant based in the United States and who can work with others on a remote team. We estimated travel at 30-50% for external trainings, meetings, conference, and internal meetings.


About the Hiring Process

Selected candidates can expect one 45-minute screening, and two one hour-long ‘deep dive’ panel interviews with various Provide staff. Final candidates will be provided a written scenario and asked to submit a brief technical exercise and training presentation. Final candidates will be compensated $200 for time spent on the technical exercise. Specific instructions will be provided to finalist candidates.


Timeline

  • Screening and interview will begin on April 11th, 20224
  • Second interviews will begin by April 15th
  • Final interview and technical exercise presentations will begin the week of April 22nd
  • An offer will be extended by April 30th
  • Start date Mid May
