POSITION TITLE: Escrow/Insurance Clerk

DEPARTMENT: Loan Department

Scope of Responsibility: The primary responsibility of the Escrow/Insurance Clerk is to administer and provide support for the bank’s loan functions ensuring compliance with bank loan policies and procedures as well as state & federal regulations. The Escrow Loan Administrator specializes in:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Disbursing escrow payments for annual and semi-annual real estate taxes;
  • Disbursing escrow payments for property hazard and flood insurance premiums;
  • Verifying current status of property insurance renewals monthly; communicating with customers and insurance agencies when cancellations are received or policy lapses occur;
  • Ensuring new hazard and flood insurance policies are issued in required amounts, scanned, and filed;
  • Handling “forced placed insurance” for loans without insurance, to include, customer notifications, placement of loan/property on force placed insurance policy, and issuing monthly premiums charged by the bank’s insurer;
  • Determining loan customers subject to upcoming county tax sales; corresponding with loan customer, and paying those not satisfied prior to tax sale;
  • Maintaining loan accounts as necessary;
  • Scanning and filing insurance policies;
  • Providing customer service to loan customers and other bank employees as needed;
  • Participating in required compliance training and insuring compliance with all regulations that apply within the scope of the position. Supervisors have day-to-day oversight responsibility for ensuring compliance with regulatory laws as they relate to functions within their departments;
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of bank policies, procedures, including BSA training, to ensure branch operates in compliance at all times;

Contacts:

Individuals in this position will work closely with other members of the loan department, loan officers, branch personnel, and, attorneys, to facilitate the processing, settlement, and recordkeeping of the banks loans while providing excellent customer service for the bank’s loan customers.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills escrow software experience preferred.
  • Insurance knowledge or experience helpful
  • Superb communications, time management, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Detail Oriented and the ability to work independently.
  • Proven ability to successfully prioritize workload.
  • Highly motivated self-starter.
  • Ability to learn at a fast pace.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15lbs. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Employee will need to be able to do close up paperwork and view computer screens.
