Position Summary
Summary:
Responsible for assisting the Cardiologist on all procedures in the Electrophysiology Lab, including: device implants and arrhythmia ablations. Serve the need of patients by overseeing the development, integration, and evaluation of the effectiveness of patient protocols and effects on patient outcomes. Deliver direct/indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment; implementation and prioritization of patient problems and needs; and development/implementation/evaluation of a nursing plan of care. Demonstrates sound judgment and critical thinking to assure the delivery of safe, quality, age-specific care; demonstrates department-specific competencies. Document accurately and in a timely manner. Effectively interacts with patients, families and physicians while maintaining standards of professional nursing practice and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

* Standard Work Duties: EP Registered Nurse
- Demonstrates accurate documentation of patient information according to documentation standards in PEARL; including patient and family education, nursing interventions, medications, treatments, and patient's response to care.
- Administers medications accurately; observes and documents patient response.
- Communicates effectively with the physician, members of the multidisciplinary team, patient and family members. Initiates appropriate consults when indicated (dietary, social services, etc.).
- Maintains patient comfort, confidentiality and privacy; adheres to HIPAA standards.
- Organizes job functions and work assignments to effectively complete work within established time frames, including delegating appropriately and providing direction to other team members.
- Sets up and operates specialized EP equipment, including data recording systems, programmable stimulators, mapping systems, and various generators and other equipment involved in EP procedures.
- Performs duties of scrub assistance for cardiologist and Electrophysiologists during catheter ablation and device implant procedure.
- Demonstrates knowledge of all equipment and systems/technology necessary to complete duties on all EP cases including: operating specialized EP equipment, including data recording systems, programmable stimulators, mapping systems, and various generators and other equipment involved in EP procedures.
- Has knowledge of ICD and pacemaker interrogation before and after EP procedure.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
* Two years of experience as an EP lab RN. Competency in ECG interpretation a must.
Education:
Essential: Associate's Degree in Nursing
* Nursing: If hired after 2013, must obtain Bachelor degree in Nursing within 3 years of employment date.
Non-essential: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Other information:
Licenses Essential: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in Florida.
Certifications Essential: The following certifications for specific departments are required: ACLS, RCES within one year of completing probationary period of hire.
Experience Preferred: Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or Certification in Pacing and Electrophysiology with the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology (NASPE).
