We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Environmental Specialist to oversee Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) investigations and remediation projects across the states of Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri. As the Environmental Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful planning, execution, and completion of LUST projects in compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. Your expertise in environmental assessment and remediation, along with your strong project management skills, will be instrumental in delivering high-quality and sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities:

1. Plan, coordinate, and manage all aspects of LUST investigations and remediation projects, including project scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.

2. Conduct initial site assessments to evaluate the extent of contamination, potential risks, and the need for further investigation or remediation.

3. Develop comprehensive project work plans, including sampling and analysis plans, remediation strategies, and health and safety plans.

4. Coordinate and oversee field investigations, site characterization activities, and monitoring activities to gather data on contaminant levels, migration pathways, and potential impacts on soil, groundwater, and nearby receptors.

5. Engage and manage subcontractors, consultants, and field staff involved in fieldwork, monitoring, laboratory analysis, and remediation activities.

6. Work closely with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations governing LUST investigations and remediation projects.

7. Prepare and submit relevant reports, including site investigation reports, remediation action plans, progress reports, and closure reports.

8. Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring projects are delivered within allocated resources and identifying any deviations or potential cost savings.

9. Implement quality control and quality assurance protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data collected during investigations and remediation activities.

10. Assess and manage project risks, develop contingency plans, and proactively address issues to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.

11. Provide technical guidance to project team members, reviewing investigation and remediation reports, and providing expertise in selecting appropriate remediation technologies and approaches.

12. Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, community members, and other project partners.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

2. Proven experience in managing LUST investigations and remediation projects, preferably across multiple states and with knowledge of Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri regulations.

3. Strong understanding of LUST regulatory frameworks and requirements, including knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations (e.g., USEPA UST regulations, state-specific LUST guidelines).

4. Demonstrated experience in environmental site assessments, subsurface investigations, remediation technologies, and risk-based corrective actions for petroleum-contaminated sites.

5. Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools, with a track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.

6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders including clients, regulatory agencies, and project team members.

7. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to anticipate and address project-specific challenges or constraints.

8. Familiarity with site characterization techniques, sampling methodologies, and laboratory analysis procedures for assessing soil and groundwater contamination.

9. Knowledge of health and safety protocols related to environmental investigations and remediation projects.

10. Professional certifications such as Professional Geologist (PG), Professional Engineer (PE), or Project Management Professional (PMP) are desirable.

11. Willingness to travel occasionally and work on-site at project locations across Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri.

12. Conduct environmental assessments and audits to identify potential risks and recommend measures for preventing or mitigating those risks

13. Stay abreast of current environmental regulations and legislation, acting as a subject matter expert on environmental compliance matters

14. Develop and implement effective environmental management plans, policies, and procedures

15. Conduct and oversee environmental impact assessments for new projects, acquisitions, or expansions

16. Monitor and evaluate environmental performance by collecting and analyzing data on key environmental indicators

17.  Prepare reports, including environmental impact statements, regulatory compliance reports, and sustainability performance metrics
