Job description

The ideal candidate will have the applicable education and work experience to supervise environmental and historic preservation specialists conducting federal compliance reviews across the spectrum of Historic Preservation or Environmental Planning laws for FEMA disaster recovery projects. The position is based in Chicago, IL and requires significant travel to declared disasters within FEMA Region 5. In this role, the applicant will serve as the Environmental Advisor at FEMA field offices.Qualifications:

To qualify for this Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist position at the IC-13 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-12 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:

  1. Leading a team in the delivery of environmental and historic preservation compliance;
  2. Reviewing staff environmental compliance determinations with regulations (e.g. National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act, Endangered Species Act, etc.); and
  3. Coordinating and monitoring work related to Environmental and Historic Preservation at the federal, state, tribal or local level.
