Environmental Specialist I

M&S is soliciting applications from highly motivated, qualified individuals to fill an Environmental Specialist Iposition for our New Jersey office. The Environmental Specialist I position would have an emphasis in environmental planning and permitting for a variety of projects and clients in the areas of Transportation, Facilities, and Site Development. This individual will be supervised and trained by experienced Environmental Specialists and will be encouraged to participate in training and certification opportunities for professional development. Responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with compilation of various environmental documents for multi-disciplinary projects.
• Assisting with environmental permitting processes and agency permit applications including but not limited to wetland/waterway permitting and the Endangered Species Act (federal and state).
• Conducting stream, wetland, and wildlife habitat assessments.
• Conducting wetland delineations and technical writing of Wetland Delineation reports.
• Preparing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation.

Qualifications

• BS/MS degree in Environmental Sciences or related field (Will consider a summer internship for the right rising senior)
• 0-5 years of technical and field experience in wetland delineation and other natural resource surveys, environmental data collection, compliance monitoring and environmental permitting
• Experience/Familiarity with endangered species studies
• Ability to travel to project locations and conduct field work
• Demonstrate environmental writing and communication skills
• Ability to communicate and support teams
• Candidate must be detail oriented and have the ability to work independently
