Job Description
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains environmental control following standard practices & procedures, and complies with regulatory requirements.
- Performs and documents environmental health and safety audits for the facility.
- Creates and proposes ways to eliminate environmental issues.
- Coordinates with regulatory agencies about environmental issues.
- Works with approved mold abatement chemicals.
- Conducts safety and environmental inspections as required by Safety Director.
- Maintains Hazard Communications Program.
- Investigates complaints concerning air pollutants.
- Complete other tasks as requested or assigned by the Safety Director.
Educational Requirements:
- Associates/Bachelor Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- NYS-Approved mold abatement certification.
- Professional Mold Assessor License, preferred.
- HAZWOPER Certification, preferred.
- Asbestos Inspector License, preferred.
- OSHA 10 hour Construction, preferred.
Work Experience and Minimum Requirements:
- Ability to wear approved respirator
- Ability to pass required medical physical for respirator use and ability to pass required fit test.
- Ability to wear approved Personal Protection Equipment.
- Ability to work in small confined spaces.
- Basic knowledge of Asbestos Removal Procedures.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and safety requirements.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and be able to maintain documentation as required.
- Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Must attend OSHA 30- hour general industry class within one (1) year of hire; Repeat every 5 years.
- Must complete 30 hour Construction course within one (1) year of hire.
- All mold licensees must complete a four-hour, department – approved refresher course every 2 years.
- Possess a valid driver license (NY, NJ, CT or PA) – no exceptions
Testing:
- Drug screening to the extent permitted by applicable law
Physical Requirements:
Persons performing service in this position classification may routinely exert up to 80 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. This type of work will involve regular walking or standing for extended periods of time. It may involve stooping or bending. Handling and working with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
