The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Unit coordinates enterprise-wide health and safety initiatives designed to ensure a safe and healthful environment for donors, patients, personnel, and visitors while assuring compliance to federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Additionally, the EH&S Unit evaluates and recommends measures to control workplace hazards through field inspections, hazard analysis, and training and program development. As a member of the EH&S Unit, this role provides technical and administrative support for the EH&S Program. 

 

  • Design and maintain an EH&S website for enterprise employees, including creating site content and features to continually improve the website’s user experience and support the NYBCe's goals and strategies.
  • Develop customized EH&S e-learning and in-person training courses for enterprise employees. Organize and deliver staff training, as well as monitoring staff performance and progress.
  • Assist the Executive Director of EH&S with generating and analyzing trend reports and other analysis of safety and health incident report data to initiate and develop strategic plans, program goals, and program objectives; ensures accuracy and timely distribution of scheduled and ad hoc reports relevant to workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Assist the Executive Director of EH&S with the employee injuries and illnesses reporting program, including the annual reporting to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Bureau of Labor Statistics.
  • Conduct post-accident investigation and implement correct action to minimize reoccurrence.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on workers’ compensation cases.
  • Manage the chemical safety program.
  • Manage chemical inventory and complete the annual Environmental Protection Agency’s Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know’s Tier II reporting.
  • Coordinate the annual chemical waste pick-up and maintain reporting.
  • Manage the New York City Fire Department’s Certificate of Fitness (C -14) program.
  • Perform focused health and safety program audits as member of the Environmental Health and safety team to assure effective implementation of requirements at NYBC sites.
  • Manage all regulatory permits, licenses, and certifications.
  • Provide administrative support in the Environmental Health and safety unit.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field of study.

 

Related Experience:

  • Minimum four (4) years’ Environmental Health and safety experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in Occupational Safety and Health or related field of study preferred.
  • Four (4) years of E-learning development experience, including designing graphics and animation.

Required Licenses / Certification:

  • OSHA Authorized Trainer in General Industry.
  • Possess a valid OSHA 30-hour card in the General Industry (less than 5-years-old).

 

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $85,000.00 p/yr to $95,000.00 p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.

 

Unless otherwise specified, all posted opportunities are located in the New York or Greater Tri-State office locations.
