We are currently seeking a self-driven and self-directed individual with an interest and background in environmental science, industrial hygiene, or geology. We currently have a position available for an entry to mid-level Environmental Scientist to provide field and technical support for Cape Canaveral Space Force Station under a Fence to Fence contract that supports Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Patrick Space Force Station, Avon Park Air Force Range, Johnathan Davis Missile Tracking Annex and Malabar Transmitter Annex. This is an onsite position, and the office is located at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Compliance audits for indoor air quality assessments including asbestos, lead-based paint, and moisture/mold surveys.
- Report writing, generation of figures, tables, and database management,
- Site remediation implementation,
- POL Storage Tank compliance knowledge for ASTs, USTs, OWS’s, associated piping, containers, and other related equipment,
- Spill response,
- Compliance Plans (SWPP, SPCC, etc.),
- Permitting and regulatory compliance,
- Technical report review and comment,
- Assist with project management,
- Audit inspections,
- Solid waste management
Minimum Requirements:
- Environmental BS/BA in engineering, geology or environmental science or other technical/ science discipline.
- Valid driver's license in excellent standing.
- Position requires entry onto multiple Federal Facilities and US Citizenship is required.
- Ability to pass background screening requirements including criminal history, motor vehicle check, drug testing, etc.
- Strong technical communication skills, safety awareness, and a good record and understanding of safe work practices.
- Good computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience performing environmental field sampling and investigation activities including soil, sediment and groundwater sampling, installation of soil borings and groundwater monitoring wells, soil excavation and other environmental related investigations.
- Experience performing hazardous building materials assessments, asbestos and lead-based paint building assessments and surveys, asbestos and lead-based paint abatement oversight, indoor air quality surveys, water intrusion assessments and mold assessments.
- Experience in the performance and management of due diligence investigations – Phase I ESAs.
- Compliance in Air Quality, POL Storage Tanks, Emergency Management Systems.
- Familiarity with Federal State & local regulations & laws
- Familiarity with Department and Air Force Systems and directives, STAR/APIMS
- Sills to evaluate complex laboratory and field data and assemble written reports.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
- Experience with ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD is a plus.
- Construction/heavy equipment experience is a plus.
