Environmental Scientist Researcher

Job Summary and Description:
Performs complex analysis with minimal direction and supervision. Works directly with EPRI staff and engages in supervised interaction with members and industry.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements:
-Conducts technical searches and analyzes information in support of the project team.
-Conducts some independent research, with support from technical leads.
Additional Requirements:
-Assists technical research leads in assessing customer needs, formulating technical approaches, preparing proposals, technical publications/papers, and making presentations with minimal supervision.
-Able to present at external conferences and meetings on technical work.
-Has an understanding of other programs at EPRI and how specific program work fits into the EPRI mission.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required.
Additional Job Information:
We are looking for an Environmental Scientist with knowledge on:
• Wildlife management, animal behavior, avian protection plans, and Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, and Endangered Species Act compliance
• Remote sensing technologies including Unmanned Aerial System (UAS/drone)
• Data analysis, machine learning, programming (R, python, or similar)
• GIS tools (utility GIS, ESRI software or similar)
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Electric utility experience is a plus
Ideal candidate would have good background in environmental sciences and be willing to learn and develop skills in different areas such as animal interactions with T&D assets, avian protection plans, and remote sensing technologies including UAS. Utility experience and/or familiarity with GIS is a plus.
EPRI's Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Environmental Issues Program investigates innovative technologies and approaches to design, site, construct, and manage T&D systems with a focus on environmental impact. Research priorities in this program are focused on enhancing the safe and reliable delivery of electricity while protecting environmental and cultural resources, decreasing costs, and supporting corporate reliability, resilience, sustainability, and conservation goals.

The salary range for this position is $87,975 USD to $119,025 USD annually.
This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This role is eligible to participate in EPRI's annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.
This role is eligible to participate in EPRI's standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD and paid family leave, life and accident insurance, paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).
EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA). EPRI uses the system to check the work status of new hires by comparing information from the employee's I-9 form against SSA and Department of Homeland Security databases.
