Environmental Scientist I

RK&K is seeking an Environmental Scientist I to join our Natural Resources Team in Raleigh. As an RK&K Environmental Scientist you will be actively involved in a diversity of protected species surveys (including mussels, fish, and plants), habitat assessments, wetland/stream assessment projects, water quality permitting, and other natural resource projects.
Job Responsibilities:
Conduct aquatic surveys in-water with wetsuit, water safety gear, etc.
Prepare documents and natural resource reports
Conduct/assist in wetland and stream delineations, protected species surveys and habitat assessment, and other natural resource inventories
Interact with clients and regulatory agencies
Collaborate with other environmental professionals
Required Skills an d Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or equivalent·
Team-oriented
Adept at juggling multiple tasks
Excellent at written and verbal communication
Motivated to find creative solutions to environmental problems
Excited to work outdoors in all seasons including in-water
Experience with GIS (ArcPRO)
0 to 5 years relevant experience

Preferred Skills and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Environmental Science or equivalent
Candidates with internship and/or other directly related work experience highly preferred
Experience in North Carolina
Experience with aquatic surveys
Plant identification, wetland delineation training, NCWAM and NCSAM, ecological monitoring, construction monitoring, CADD, and GIS experience is a plus.
CPR/First Aid training
