Description

This position will be responsible for managing regulatory, remediation, and environmental duties as needed for the Orphaned Well Plugging Program. Develops, implements, and supervises remediation plans including project design, performing the technical research, conducting field investigations, analyzing data, and writing final technical reports for the projects. The Project Specialist suggests resource management goals and objectives for the Osage Reservation. The Project Specialist is responsible for planning and administering federally funded projects and for coordinating other activities as required. In addition, the Specialist may also act as a departmental coordinator of database management, GIS, GPS or other departmental functions and may assist the Director in department-wide initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors of science in Physical Science, Geology, or Engineering preferred; or Bachelors of Science Degree and 5+ years’ relevant experience in fields such as environmental consulting, remediation, or state/federal/tribal oversight of Environmental Projects/remediation required
  • Experience in oil and gas production or remediation required with a general understanding of oil and gas production or drilling activities.  
  • Requires knowledge of methods and procedures of scientific research and data collection, interpretation and presentation
  • Requires demonstrated computer skills including database management, word processing, Internet, and email proficiency
  • Requires having worked with, supervised, vetted, and reviewing contractor and subcontractor agreements
  • Requires having worked with budgets and the ability to forecast budgets and expenses.
  • Knowledge and experience in GIS mapping a plus
  • Requires excellent organizational and time-management skills with ability to manage multiple tasks/projects without supervision
  • Requires demonstrated oral communication skills and demonstrated technical writing abilities
  • Must maintain a professional attitude and appearance that positively represents the Nation
  • Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics
  • Requires a high level of problem solving skills
  • Must maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Requires good interpersonal communication and team work skills
  • Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing
  • Must have a clean driving record – may be required to drive GSA or tribal vehicles
