A DAY IN THE LIFE
Enthalpy Analytical, is part of the larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, is comprised of 9 laboratories servicing air, water, soil, and toxicology testing. Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.
Our Durham, NC facility is currently seeking a Full-Time Operations Manager to join our team.
The Operations Manager will manage the Organic Groups of the lab and is responsible for getting efficient production of those groups, meeting all lab quality standards and ensuring the groups stay on-time for client deliverables. In doing this, the Operations Manager is monitoring current production systems and processes and developing/implementing strategies for improvement in those areas. This position reports to the Laboratory Director.
Annual salary ranging from $85,000 to $110,000, commensurate with education, accomplishments, performance, credentials and geography

Directly responsible for management of teams whose responsibilities include:
- Analysis via Gas Chromatography, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry, High Resolution Mass Spectrometry
- Preparation of organic samples using techniques such as organic solvent extractions
- Supports Customer Service by advising project managers regarding suggested test methods and regulations.
- Develops and grows analytical and preparatory staff
- Troubleshooting instruments and problem solving
- Research new technologies and alternative methods of efficiency
- Fostering a collaborative environment and teamwork across all levels of the organization
- Communicate with client’s questions or concerns
- Initiate and address non-conformance issues
- Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency and/or accuracy of analyses
- Comply with Enthalpy’s Quality Assurance Program and other policies
- Monitor costs and usage of lab consumables to make informed decisions for purchasing
- Ensure staff comply with Enthalpy’s Health and Safety Plan
- Other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Director
- Bachelor's Degree in a physical science or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years laboratory experience
- Must have familiarity with environmental sample analysis, chromatography, and mass spectrometry
- Must have the ability to manage people effectively
- Effectiveness-Positive outcomes & results of communication skills
- Conflict resolution skills: Removes/Breakdown organizational communication barriers
- Assertion Skills-Problem diagnosis, assess corrective action
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain composure during stressful times
