Location: Winchester VA
Reports To: Manager, EHS
The EHS Specialist will report to the EHS Manager and will assist in maintaining the Plant's EHS programs and improving overall workforce safety. Assist with development and coordination of training programs to improve the overall workforce safety awareness including new hire orientation and monthly safety training.
Responsibilities:
- Possess current knowledge of EHS policies and regulations in order to be a resource to supervisors and managers on EHS improvements and strategies.
- Assist plant leadership team in building and reinforcing a safety culture moving toward zero incidents or injuries.
- Analyze and assess plant safety trend data to drive safety resource allocation and drive ergonomic initiatives to reduce injuries.
- Knowledgeable in job safety analysis to be a resource to supervisors and managers in assisting them to implement JSA's for tasks within their departments.
- Participate in facility EHS audits and safety inspections, document control, record keeping, participation in plant-wide process improvement projects.
- Develop EHS programs to meet requirements of corporate and regulatory agencies.
- Consult with department managers and supervisors to assess training needs and develop programs to meet these needs.
- Tracking/communication of needed training, tracking/communication of overdue training, tracking/communication of needed orientation.
- Identify and appraise conditions which could produce accidents and financial losses and evaluate potential injuries resulting from incidents.
- Coordinate activities of all employees to ensure implementation of safety policies/procedures throughout the organization.
- Serve as contact on work related incidents which may include basic First Aid and Workers Compensation Claim management.
- Spend time on the floor to identify unsafe acts and/or conditions and recommend appropriate fixes
- Understand environmental compliance requirements and support program by filing necessary reports and completing site inspections.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, Human Resources or related discipline or 1 - 4 years of experience in a position with responsibility for safety programs preferred
