POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under general supervision implements daily environmental & Sustainability initiatives to ensure organizational compliance.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES, SKILLS, and EXPERIENCE
1.Conduct onsite regulatory sampling such as wastewater and stormwater samples. Ability to prepare, document and ship samples to an independent lab for processing.
2.Analyze a wide array of environmental requirements including permits, plans and agency regulatory requirements and determine applicability to our operations. This includes completing required regulatory submittals or updates such as SB-14, CERS, APCD Emissions Inventory, Biennial Report, and TRI Reports.
3.Identify ways to reduce the companies carbon footprint and meet our corporate directive to become carbon neutral by 2050 along with working towards other environmental corporate directives.
4.Act liaison with regulatory agencies as needed and submit required data.
5.Collect and analyze internal environmental data collection for Nitto corporate and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and submit reports as requested.
6.Track energy use, carbon footprint calculations, investigate and plan objectives for energy reduction projects. Collaborat4 with Nitto environmental directives and help with audit mitigation.
7.Partner with Nitto Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) efforts and directives.
8.Align with various departments to address internal environmental concerns.
9.Audit and inspect as it pertains to environmental compliance, document, and follow-up with standard record-keeping procedures.
10.Implement environmental training programs and perform training as needed. Set-up specialty training classes with outside organizations as needed.
11.Develop and implement programs as well as ideas to reduce and eliminate waste, reduce CO2, water, electricity usage and work towards improving recycling efforts within the company.
12.Research chemicals in use to find safer and more environmentally friendly alternatives that could be used.
13.Partner with Environmental Health and Safety Department employees to address immediate and future needs.
14.Sustain Environmental Health and Safety initiatives such as patrols, Environmental Health & Safety walks, and several other activities.
15.Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related sciences field and 4 years' directly related experience with solid knowledge of Federal, State, and local environmental regulations.
16.Working knowledge of Cal/OSHA regulations and industrial hygiene concepts, methodologies, principles, and instrumentation in a manufacturing environment, preferred; ISO 9000 & 14001 working knowledge, a plus.
17.Working knowledge of environmental sciences, regulatory laws and permitting processes.
18.Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office Suite software such as Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and Word as well as exposure to enterprise software.
19.Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Write moderately complex reports and correspondence as well as speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, or vendors.
20.Work independently as well as in a small and/or large group while fostering a cooperative spirit.
21.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in various mediums.
