This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

We are looking for engineers to help drive our agency towards accomplishing our vision. This position will support by conducting technical reviews of hazardous waste permits, research, plan, or perform engineering duties in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental hazards using various engineering disciplines. Work may include complex hazardous waste permit and technical writing, compliance assistance, document and report review, customer service for regulated community, staff and citizens, project management, and adoption of a Lean process improvement culture. You will also serve a mentor to junior level engineering staff, and help to reduce the routine technical review burden on our other engineers. Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental/chemical engineering or other engineering discipline
- Level 3: Requires 5 years’ experience (Master’s degree can substitute for 2 years of experience; Doctorate can substitute for 4 years of experience).
- Level 4: Requires 8 years’ experience (Master’s degree can substitute for 2 years of experience; Doctorate can substitute for 4 years of experience).
- At Level 3, an Engineer in Training (E.I.T) certification is required and Level 4, a Professional Engineering (PE) certification through the AZ Board of Technical Registration or an equivalent organization in a reciprocal jurisdiction.
- Knowledge of State and Federal environmental regulations, environmental remedial process and operations, Environmental Engineering and technology principles and practices, chemical composition, structure and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations they undergo in the environment, Agency policies and processes
- Ability to understand and apply environmental rules and statues; to follow guidance documents, standard operating procedures, and other technical instructions in performance of tasks; balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks and complete assignments by applicable deadlines; to prepare clear, concise and accurate reports; remedial engineering cost estimates, remediation design calculations for mass removal, and to summarize completed tasks and/or monitoring data orally and in written communication.

Level 3: $80,000-$85,000
Level 4: $95,000 - $100,000
