Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (Environmental Science, Engineering, or Environmental Studies preferred)
- 3+ years experience with Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements such as Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA), National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Spill Prevention and Countermeasures Plan (SPCC).
- 2+ years experience in a rail organization preferred
- Broad knowledge of Clean Air Act, Right of Way Vegetation Management, Wetlands Protection Act.
- MS Office software
- Other preferred software (GIS, StreamStats)
Key Accountabilities
Program Management:
- Manage the schedule of environmental services to ensure compliance with the MBTA Operating
- Agreement and environmental regulatory requirements.
- Conduct environmental inspections and prepare respective reports.
- Responsible for identifying, investigating, and resolving findings related to environmental inspections and audits.
- Lead collaborative efforts with the rest of the business to ensure environmental and sustainability improvements.
- Represent the Environmental Department in the Chemical Assessment Safety team (CAST)
- Support the implementation of an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
- Manage environmental campaigns and improvement projects.
- Comply with and ensure staff compliance with all environmental, health and safety rules and procedures.
Organizational Specific:
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in a manner that maintains an open and welcoming working relationship
- This role may be required to perform other functions under the direction of Director of Environment & Sustainability
