JOB SUMMARY:
The Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) manager is responsible for developing and overseeing environmental, social and corporate governance policies and procedures. The ESG Manager will provide technical expertise on key issues related environmental and social impact assessment and on sustainability risks in the design, preparation, implementation and supervision of the whole enterprise taking into consideration best industry practices and standards. This is a high impact and cross-functional opportunity. You will focus on global ESG rulemaking and evolve Blue Bird ESG reporting and compliance to be best in class and aligned with regulatory, ESG rating, investor, customer, employee, and other stakeholder expectations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Familiarize him/herself with the Blue Bird ESMS (environmental and social management system) strategy roadmap, including Environmental (GHG emissions, clean air, waste disposal * recycling, water and energy usage, green products); Social (workplace safety, product safety, employee well-being, diversity and inclusion, community involvement); and Governance (business and ethics, Board leadership, shareholder relations, responsible advocacy, executive compensation)
- Develop and monitor the organization-wide ESMS, which will be implemented in all business areas, across all operational levels.
- Develop and deploy an ESG data collection process and ensure accuracy and completeness of ESG data. Develop controls to ensure ESG data is ready and available to be reviewed and assured. Gather data and stakeholder input.
- Establish ESG taskforce and organizational partnerships. Identify who is responsible for oversight, implementation, data collection and reporting.
- Establish ESC goals, targets, targets mapped to business processes, and processes mapped to decision making.
- Review and procure ESG software and measure and track Blue Bird Metrics.
- Review ESG ratings and framework landscapes and adopt frameworks and ratings which address concern areas.
- Recommend and communicate policies, provide relevant training, and embed guidance and decision tools.
- Monitor and adjust progress at regular intervals.
- Manage responses to ESG information to key stakeholders - shareholders, regulators, customers, and employees.
- Partner with Communications function and customer facing roles to develop timeline and process for amplifying the Blue Bird ESG story to customers, suppliers, and other internal and external audiences.
- Manage ESG communications in various forms, such as dashboards, scorecards, infographics, and across multiple internal and external channels, including corporate website, digital platforms, and press releases.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Expertise in some or all of the areas relevant to ESG, such as carbon emissions, supplier engagement, human rights, technology sustainability, and/or ethics, and a proven track record developing expertise in new areas.
- Experience creating ESG-focused reporting.
- Familiarity with the ESG regulatory landscape, reporting frameworks, policy, and ratings methodologies, and the ability to proactively provide guidance on evolving trends.
- Track record of building partnerships with manufacturing leaders implementing ESMS initiatives.
- Technical knowledge and experience with widely-used ESG frameworks and standards (e.g., GHG, GRI, ISSB, SASB, TCFD).
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
- Bachelor's degree in business or science
- A minimum of 10 years or advanced professional certification or Master's degree with some relevant experience
- 3 or more years of experience in areas relevant to ESG
