Entry Level It Service Technician

A small company located in Rochester, New York, for over twenty years, aycan Medical Systems is an established business that provides products and services for archiving, viewing, and managing medical image data in a cost-effective manner. The Service Technician position revolves around level one technical support of these products, providing phone and email support, and keeping accurate tickets of work done. The individual will also help provide sales team members with customer pre-sales support, providing technical feasibility and customer explanation before products are sold.

Job Description

As a small group, we highly value self-discipline and comradery in our team.

• Provide level one technical troubleshooting to end users and distributors via telephone and email.
• Provide support for products/systems in all lifecycle phases (installation, maintenance, upgrades, decommissioning)
• Understanding of how to read technical standards
• Continuously expand technical knowledge through self-study and training opportunities
• Record all support work in internal ticketing system
• Identify bugs, possible workaround, and escalate issues appropriately to the service manager.
• Support the sales staff by assisting with technical feasibility and answering technical questions for new customers.
• Provide routine maintenance, such as updating software
• Update internal documentation as needed
• Work with third-party partner companies as needed to provide support for aycan products
• Other related work opportunities may be assigned

Required Technical Skills

Candidates don't need to have experience with all the duties and skills listed, but the expectation is that this person can quickly get oriented and start making meaningful contributions. As such, aycan will provide a qualified individual with the training and support needed to perform and grow their skills.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS, and Debian Linux operating systems
• Basic understanding of SQL (ideally postgresql)
• Familiarity with basic networking

Nice to Have Skills/Experience

• Linux experience (shell scripts, kernel modules, software compilation)
• Experience with ticketing and ERP systems
• Knowledge of medical informatics (DICOM, HL7)
