About the Role
We are a top Fire Protection and Safety company who is looking for an Entry Level CAD / Fire Sprinkler Designer to work on projects in the Greater Austin area. Ideally, we would like a designer with at least 1-2 years of Fire Sprinkler Design experience to the position is full-time and is onsite in Leander, TX
This role reports to the Design Manager. The preferred candidate will, under the direction of the manager, survey and design different types of fire sprinkler systems in accordance with local Building and Fire Codes for commercial, residential, industrial, and multi-family buildings for new construction and tenant remodels.
Responsibilities:
- Create system designs using specialized fire sprinkler layout software (AutoSPRINK).
- Submit design plans to Local AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) for approval and obtain permits as required.
- Create material lists and fabrication reports for projects, request and compare material quotes.
- Conduct site surveys, communicate with field personnel, coordinate systems with all building trades.
- Updating of shop drawings and materials for project record and close out procedures
Required Education and Experience:
- MUST have CAD experience and a basic understanding of the construction industry and computers.
- Proven ability and track record of performing work in a timely manner and meeting deadlines.
- General MS Office skills – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Bluebeam and other PM software.
- Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
- Excellent communicator, self-motivated individual with great organizational skills.
- Decision making ability and leadership skills.
- Time management and organization skills.
- Candidates must pass a drug screen.
- Candidates must be able to show proof of work eligibility.
